Expander in today!
Well, I got my expander in today (Porter Appliance) and it isn't bad (keep in mind I haven't had it even 20 minutes yet LOL) It hurt a little bit when the ortho was pushing the bands around my teeth and when he was scraping the excess cement off my teeth before it dried rock hard, but that's all for now. No other appointments until 5 weeks (November 30th) for a checkup.

Woohoo! :D
Hi all!
Everything went well at the ortho today. He wrote up my order to get my tooth pulled (I won't do that probably until I get back from Winter break in 3 weeks) and best of all......*drum roll* I get my lower braces put on January 25th at 2:40 PM! I have decided on all metal braces and I will be getting metallic red/green (Sure it's a bit late after the X-mas season but that's alright) I can't wait!

Update :)
I called my dentist today and the receptionist said that I wouldn't be able to get in to get my tooth pulled until probably January 23rd,not to mention my appointment will be at 8:00 AM! Oh well, I get braces the 25th so at least I'll be two days healed...its gotta come out before the lowers go on anyways. Sadly, my boyfriend can't go with because it's too early in the morning
It would be nice to have some moral support.
*According to my dentist, it'll be tooth #25 that has to go, so if that means anything to anyone-great! lol, I do know its a tooth in my lower jaw though.

Monday=my tooth being gone
Hi everyone, quick update on my personal life that isn't dental related. I am no longer with my boyfriend (long story that I won't go into) but trust me when I say that I am happier for it. Anyways, Monday morning a receptionist from my dentist office is going to pick me up from my dorm and bring me over to the office to get my tooth pulled (the appointment is at 8 AM) I'm nervous about it of course, but really all I'll have to deal with pain-wise is the sticks of the needles that are going to be giving me novocaine. I don't have class until noon and it's my only one of the day until 4 PM, so I'm sure I'll have stopped bleeding and maybe able to eat something soft before then.

Extraction...dun dun dun!
Hi everyone, I'm back from the dentist office. I got my tooth pulled today and it went much better than I thought it would. I got 2 shots on one side of my mouth and one on the other (so needless to say I'll be numb for quite a while) but everything went smoothly...I just felt pressure but no pain. I got to look at my tooth once it was out and cleaned up, very pretty lol. I'm just sitting here now with gauze in my mouth and I'm sure my mouth will stop bleeding soon.

Today is the day! YES!!! :D
I get braced at 2:40 PM today, I'm not sure if I'm still going to go with red and green alternating or something different. I'll have time to choose when I'm actually sitting in the chair. This is finally happening! Woohoo!

I'm officially a metalmouth! :D
It's done! Everything went very smoothly and I chose light blue and green alternating instead of red and green

Yeouch!
Wow, it really hurts to eat (and brush) but I've been sticking to soft foods and using the lowest setting on my Sonicare, but still I almost want to cry because it hurts so much. I WOULD use a regular toothbrush but I feel my Sonicare gets them cleaner, so I'll just deal with the pain and be extra careful.

My week anniversary!
Well all, Its been ONE WEEK since getting my braces and other than problems eating still (pain) everything seems to be going just fine!
I've switched from using my Sonicare to using a regular toothbrush....using the Sonicare even on its lowest setting was very painful and just caused me to drool everywhere while brushing. Softer is better definitely!
That way I can put as much pressure on my teeth as feels comfortable. Why didn't I do it before? Becaise I'm stubborn and think that only electrics can get your mouth very clean.
Flossing isn't going so well, I'm just using my proxibrush because struggling with floss/the threaders I was given in my goodie bag is tough. I tried flossing the other day with regular and my braces shredded it! Argh! Hopefully I'm doing enough...I'm still using something similar to the Reach Access flosser for my uppers (I got them at the dollar store and I don't know what they're called but they look exactly like the RAF)
Sorry to make this so long and rambling, but I wanted to celebrate my first week in braces!
