HI

Very fast movement!! Congratss!!
Im just wondering does putting the expander affect your speech or anything in anyway?

Im supposed to put on the expander but was worry it will affect my speech so orthon drop it and suggest to use elastic instead.

Hi gracey!
The expander greatly affected my speech in the beginning. My Ortho even said he was worried about me bc I sounded really bad LOL . But its been about 4 months and my speech is pretty much normal again. Certain words or sounds get me a little but but overall its not bad. I'd say it took about a month for me to be comfortable with my speech again.

Wow! I'm really impressed at how the elastics have affected your bite already, you must be so excited about that :D

Thanks kilikena, Yeah I was really impressed at the elastics, considering my alternative was major surgery.

My teeth moved fast and I can even tell that my toungue thrusting which seems to have caused the open bite (or maybe the open bite caused the tounge thrust) has stopped bc my toungue now rests in the correct spot.

I am almost at my 5 month mark. I have been slacking on wearing my elastics over the last month because it was bringing my bottom jaw so far fwd that my front teeth touched and my back teeth didnt. I never thought I'd have that problem, but I couldn't chew very well, it was super annoying and I just stopped wearing them.

So they changed my elastics configuration to some zig zag thing and its definitely feeling better in these first few days.

I also got the horrible MPE expander taken out! I was so so so happy that day. Hated that thing!

Here are a few comparasion pics:

I just can't believe the amount of movement you've had in such a short amount of time!! Selfishly, I can't help but hope mine do the same when I get started... grin. But congrats, it must really feel great to see how much things have changed!

Ok well its been a couple of months now. I havent seen too many changes. Except I think my top arch is getting worse than it was in month 5. I go back in 2 weeks to change the top wire. He said we need to create torque. I hope that will start to fix the arch.
I have springs on the bottom to close up my gap. The gap on top is almost closed.

I feel like overall the top teeth are still not straight and I wish they were!

Here are 7 month pics.

I know how you feel. In two weeks I have an adjustment and will hit the seven month mark. So how come my bottom teeth have been straight since month 3 and my tops seem faaaar from straightness??? at seven months?!?!

Its been a long time since I updated. I am just over a year in. The bite is looking way better but I still wish my teeth were more straight. I have at least another year left so I guess there's plenty of time for that. Here are some pics:

It has been almost 2 years (I think) since getting my braces. The picture hosting website i used to used is gone, and so are most of my pictures, but here is an update with what I've got now.

I started with cooked teeth and an open bite.

I still dont think they are straight, and I have small, misshaped teeth which make is harder to tell if they are aligned, but it is still an improvement from the start. My ortho recommends cosmetic work once the braces are off, but I'll decide then. I have about 8-9 more months to go. Thanks for looking :)
