I think Mr. Twisty has made a little progress between those last two pictures. Look carefully at the angle between Mr. Twisty's bracket and the lateral tooth in front if him. In the first picture, the angle looks like almost 90 degrees. In the second, it looks more like 60 degrees. Come on, Mr. T!

I too am discouraged this month. It seems like everything hinges on my extraction gap closing. That leaves me with a big dorky gap on my lower teeth. Hee-Haw, anyone? :GapToothed:

Hang in there.

Hey I think you're right! Go Mr T!

Do you also think that the gap on the bottom is slightly smaller than before too? (Please say yes :) lol)

Hi Merman,
looks like the gap is a little smaller. Don't worry about not having the powerchain on, I have had one since my lower tooth was extracted, and it seems our gaps are about the same size - it doesn't look like mine is going any faster!!!

I also had a Mr. Twisty (two, actually) and they seem to have come into place, so fear not!!!

I also have little movement this month... seems the first few months are all about big movement, and the rest of the time is going to be the tweaking.

Oh, I was just posting on other people's stories when I noticed MY ticker. The 5 month braceaversary almost slipped by without me noticing!

Mr Twisty is still very ... er ... twisty, but I do think he is moving slowly.

I'll put up a new set of pics when I get home from work. :)

Hey Memran,

Your teeth are looking amazing :o Wow. I cant believe the difference in just a few months. I'm not braced up yet and have been terrified of taking the plunge, but reading your story and the fact that your braces are hardly noticable has given me a lot of confidence. Should have ceramics on before Xmas, my impressions and xrays are being done next week.

How long do you have to have your braces on for?

:-)o 5 Month Braceaversary!!! :-)o

Stoneyfaced thanks for taking he time to read my story. :) I'm glad its been helpful to you. :) The first 3 months progress was very pleasing indeed, but things have really slowed down now. My estimated treatment time is 30 months!

As promised, here are some progress pics of the bottom. There is no point showing the top, because there is no change at all :(

Ok, I'm really struggling to see any difference here, except my photography skills are improving :P, so I'm sorry to say I'm still a sad panda

The past two month just feel like a total waste of time, and my ortho is scheduling 9-10 week gaps between appointments so there are very long delays in making changes which may or may not speed up the movement.

Overall I'm pretty unhappy right now.

Memran, I'd say that your photography skills have improved but the gap has gotten smaller as well. Look at the November picture compared to September. There is a method to this braces madness even though at times it doesn't seem like it.

Thanks acd, you may be right!
Even so, it seems like really slow progress compared to the first three months.

Next adjustment is in a couple of weeks so maybe something can be done then to speed things up. :)

Hey! You're right!

I had another adjustment, and a new, thicker wire on top (which feels like a 2" x 4" plank of wood), as well as a lot of tightening on the bottom. I was really glad to get rid of the radioactive-yellow stained ligs! lol

Looking back to when I first got that lower tooth yanked out, I often explored the new space with my tongue. Now, I can barely get my tongue to fit.

In addition, I can actually feel the back of Mr T with my tongue, and not just the edge. Things are definately moving :D

My mood has been upgraded from "Sad panda" to "hmm.. its not so bad, I guess". lol :)

7.5 Month Braceaversary!!!

I did try to post an update at Christmas, but the forum was read only, and I've only just come back to check if its up again, hence the .5 :)

Its been a long 2.5 months but I'm happy to say there has been significant movement on Mr T :D

I got a new wire on the bottom 2 weeks ago, and it feels like a 2x4" plank! It is definately working.

See? :-)o

I would expect I'll start the fun of powerchains at next adjustment to start closing the gaps.

Hi Memran,

I have really enjoyed reading your story. I couldn't believe the part you wrote about your ex talking about your teeth - how horrible and shallow. I really felt for you.
I can totally relate to having teeth pulled right at the front of the mouth, I had to have a lateral incisor on the top pulled and so I look a bit like a pirate now with my gaps and braces. The gaps actually bother me more than the braces.
Your teeth have moved sooo much. You must be really pleased.

I had another adjustment yesterday, and had the upper left canine bracket put back on. (I broke it off while playing my trumpet).

I now have 4 links of powerchain on the bottom, 2 either side of the gap. They're clearly doing their job as I can no longer fit my tongue in the gap! :D

I'll post some pics and a fuller update after work today :)
