Thanks Patricia.
That's the miracle of orthodontics... trust me, teeth can move fast! I've witnessed my own do just that. I am glad I can give you hope! I know that coil they put on yesterday is working hard already trying to make room, because I am in soo much pain, it's moving about 4 of my molars back where they sure be...and all 4 ache! It didnt even hurt this much when I had spacers... but I am not complaining, I am happy! Pain=movement=yay!!
(About to go take some tylenol :) )

Hi Melissa!

You must be so excited about all the good news - not to mention those couple hours of freedom from the wires! That's wonderful that your ortho gave you an option for your treatment and now you can really focus on your plan of attack. Good luck!

Hey Nikki!~
Your avatar is rad!...hehehe..
I am totally excited about all the good news. It has put me in such a good mood!!! :D I think my ortho was kind of playing it by ear before, but now that we had a plan of attack, I can take a big sigh of relief. I think she quoted be about 2 1/2 years or more because she didn't know my teeth were gonna move so quickly. So I am a happy girly! :D

Oh yeah, yesterday I had my wires out from 9:00am - 4:00pm and I actually missed them most of the day! My teeth started to hurt around 12ish and I couldnt wait to get them put back in... weird, huh?

Coils and loose brackets, I know the feeling. I didn't think I'd ever get a coil but I did, and now it's gone after only 1 month. Yu might want to use the waterpik on that thing, I had some srprises when they took my spring out. =(

Miss Smiley, thanks for the advice! I will def. be sure to use my waterpik on my coil. I can't believe you only had it for 1 month...how big was the space that had to be opened up and do you have any before & after pics w/the coil??

Hey Melissa

Teeth are looking great and thats awesome about the no extractions. My ortho was pretty clear as well he didnt want to remove teeth either because it would change my facial profile..

And look at you all coiled up hopefully you wont have that little one on there too long.. unlike my mouth its all coils  but im happy I know some of them are coming off in a few weeks.. and they do make alot of space really fast.. its been 4 weeks and I am noticing huge gaps between some of my teeth so hopefully yours does the work it needs to :D

and YAY to a reduced sentence... that rocks! Your teeth are moving really fast you will have those suckers off in no time...

HATE coils. They can cut if they move just a little.

Glad to hear about all the positive things. Sorry about the bracket that came off but your teeth are looking really good!

melissa, that's fantastic news about your new prognosis time line. So, tell me, what's that square archwire like? I was told I'd be getting one soon-ish to help with my rotations...is it really making your teeth rock n roll? I bet so!

For the first couple days with it, some of my teeth were sore, especially my molars. But today my mouth is pain free...well, minus a sore from the coil rubbing the inside of my lip :?

Today I went in and got that pesky bracket replaced. I came home and noticed the new bracket looked way different from the others.
See?

I called and asked why it looked different. Apparently, my ortho now uses a different type of ceramic brackets... I wonder what kind they are and if I could get them all to match? Little things like that bug me

Also, I wanted to put up some inspiration for you guys :D

The first was taken in April (only 2 months ago!) Notice the tooth with the 'button'. The 2nd is that tooth now (June):

Look at it all in line with the others. They said it would take 6 months to get in line. I am so proud of it!

This next pic was taken 4 days ago.

And now, look how fast that coil is making room for my future implant:

Well, thats all for now guys :)

Hey there Melissa,

Just checking in to see your progress!!! I had no idea you got a spring coil!!! Which, I must add, is working it's magic like crazy! I had 2 spring coils when I first started in braces, one on the uppers and one of the lowers...they were only on for a couple of months and they surely get the job done!!!

Your upper arch is looking fantastic. I'm STILL waiting for one my uppers to get into place, yours totally beat mine hands down, lol. Go you!

Anyways, keep up the awesome progress and I will keep checking in to see how things are going!

Laters,
Dane :D
