Drew's braces story. BIG adjustment today! Pics.

#1 Post by Drewjb007 »

What's up yall? I am a simple 15 year old boy who is VERY vain. I started my braces journey about a month ago. There has been good, bad, and ugly. Lets start with the good: My Ortho told me I only needed braces on the top and that I only had to wear them for 10-11 months. I got ceramic so they are sorta invisible.

The bad: I am very vain and don't like showing my teeth with braces. Like most teenagers I have hit that stage where my looks mean ALOT  ! I have a crush on a girl but I don't know if she will like me now that I have braces. SHE IS HOT!!! Although I have ceramic many people seem to notice them which is a let down. I have to brush after every meal :x !

The Ugly: Food gets stuck in my teeth and it looks really nasty.
My clear ligs have already stained to an ugly brown color that is not very pretty.

I am going in for my first adjustment in a couple of week so we will see how it goes :) !

Getting Better By The Day...

#2 Post by Drewjb007 »

Oh... by the way... I talked to this "hottie" and she didn't even care :D ! I have always known that she is a great person but I didn't know how she would react. Turns out I made alot of fuss out of nothing 8) . Most people I talk to comment on my braces (all positive so far), we talk about them for a few minutes, and thats it! I wish I would have done this a few years ago when I had the chance, but I'm glad I went ahead and did things now :) . Thanks for the advice on the ligs, I will try a new color next time. These clear ones I'm using now are just awful :yuck:! Thanks again for keeping me going :!:

Hi Drewjb007! Good to hear that everything went good with that girl!
I too, should have gotten braces during teenagehood but I was really vain too and really ... well a teenager. So as I turned 20 I realised to had to do something about my teeth. So here I am :)
I'm happy that you could make that decision at such young age, that means you are responsible and care about ur teeth and oral health!
KK is GREAT! She always cheers everyone on the boards, always has the nicest words. I want an authograph too :P
Do you think that you could post some pictures of your teeth for us someday? We all love pics
Take care and good luck with the rest of your treatment!

Mississippi Boys

#4 Post by Drewjb007 »

Thanks so much for the kind words :D ! Yeah, I am planning on getting some pictures up when I find out how. As of now I have no idea where to start. If any of yall no how feel free to tell me. Poor old Mississippi boys like me don't know much about this new fangled technology  . Everything is going good so far and I haven't had hardly any pain yet which is great :) ! I have also noticed that two of my teeth have moved a great deal since getting braces only a month ago! My bite is perfect I just have multiple spaces on the top. Hopefully the Ortho will fill me in on whats going on when I go in for my first adjustment in a couple of weeks. Thanks again for all the kind words :) !

Hi Drew!

Glad to hear it's been pretty good so far. I don't get braced for a few days yet (but it keeps getting closer...) and at the moment my biggest worry is the "Ugly" as you put it! I can only imagine how long it will take me to brush my teeth post B-Day and how many times a day it will be...

BUT as everyone says, think of the beautiful smile we will have at the end! And it's fantastic you're taking the plunge at 15- it will all be over before you know it! :-*

Best of luck with the hottie!

Cheers!

Hey Drew, just a suggestion about staining; I have upper ceramics as well and after trying different shades of white, clear and tooth colored, I've found that the color "pearl" is the least likely to stain.

Well I finally was able to post one pic. I know this one stinks but taking pictures of yourself is quite hard  ! My teeth aren't that yellow, I just had bad lighting. I will try and get some better pics out quickly. Thanks :D !

One Month And Counting...

Alrighty then! Well I have a decent photo now. The last one I posted (the really ugly one) was from about 3 weeks ago. This one is from today. You may not be able to tell it but I have certainly noticed some movement going on. The most movement I have seen is from the front 4 teeth. I will try to get a side view up eventually. I apologize for the really ugly lig color, I know it looks nasty :yuck:! I have an adjustment coming up in about a week so we will see how it goes! Thanks for all the support!

Just a quick question for all my veteran metal mouths. How long does it generally take for gaps to close? I am only a little over a month into my treatment and I was just wondering when I can start looking into the mirror and say, "Dang...My teeth look good!" :D

Thanks so much,

#13 Post by Drewjb007 »

Well folks...today is the day. Today I go in for my... wait for it...wait for it...
MY FIRST ADJUSTMENT! I'm actually kinda excited about it too. I've been waiting for this day for 6 weeks, and now it's finally here :D . The thing I'm most excited about is getting new ligs... As all of you know the ones I had were just nasty :yuck: . I will update as soon as I get home tonight to tell yall what went down. Until then just pray for me that I remember to take some Asprin before I go in...

Well I had my first adjustment yesterday and boy was it something. I got this HUGE wire put on and powerchains on my front two teeth. The awesome thing about it is in just 5 hours my gap in my front teeth was gone ! I know your thinking "this guy is crazy" but I'm not. In 5 hours with powerchains it was gone :D :D :D ! Boy am I excited! My mouth is very sore though :ouch: ! I will update further as time goes by.

Soreness

#15 Post by Drewjb007 »

Thanks for all of your support :D ! I will have to try the skin massage thing, it is pretty sore up there. When I went for my adjustment I asked if they had any other "invisible" colors beside clear. I got a very easy response...no. So I got clear again so in about a week my teeth will once again be brown, but who cares, I'm so excited about my progress to notice things like brown teeth :!: The ortho told my I was taking great care of my teeth which was a good thing. He told me next time he will put powerchains on my front four teeth or front six teeth rather than just the front two. I ate a Snickers bar for breakfast this morning so I am getting a little better with the whole eating thing again  . This is off subject but... I GOT MY DRIVERS PERMIT! Now I can drive, (with my parents  ), wherever I want! Also I need a haircut. Well thats all I got for now, I will update when something exciting happens. Talk to y'all then!
