Could This Be A Problem?

Even before I got my top arch wired it seemed that the roots of my canines were always a little bit closer to the surface of my gum thus making that immediate area whiter. In the past I'd say month or so I've noticed the same thing on one of my canines on the bottom arch. Now grant it my extraction gaps on the bottom are closing like the wind (7 months no more spaces!) so I'm assuming it's from everything getting reacclimated (sp?) to their new homes. Finally my question.... is this normal or shall I ask my ortho when I go next week? Thanks in advance everyone!!!

The sounds like an excellent question for your ortho! Sounds like an interesting question too? Let us know the answer when you find out.

I saw a periodontist for bleeding gum above one tooth and it turned out my gum was ok, but I needed skin grafts over seven of the roots of my upper and lower teeth. The orthodontist told me I had to have it done before he would put braces on me. Definately bring it up to the orthodontist and don't be surprised if he sends you to a periodontist for an evaluation. I believe the tissue over the roots is what keeps the roots/teeth secure - I had to have this done whether or not I got braces...
