Confession time.. be honest!

#1 Post by katy »

How many of you brace-faces actually stick to the rules when it comes to not eating lollies, popcorn etc?
I'll admit that I'm no angel when it comes to the rules :-9 I really haven't changed my diet
at all since getting braced... I was good for about three weeks (the time it took for my teeth to settle)
and then I went back to enjoying my chocolate and popcorn etc...

The only time I've been limited in eating something is because of the pain / discomfort it has caused :soremouth:.
And, before you say it, no I haven't broken any brackets, nor had any cavities or other repercussions
caused by my blatant disregard for those rules ... Just interested in how many of us are
out there.... be honest now...

Ive been eating all kinds of "prohibited" food, since i felt no pain at all

I think those rules are mostly to lilttle braced kids, who eat tons and tons of food. and the orthos dont want to be changing broken brakets every week on them.

we as adults 8) can be more "mature"

hehehe

OMG! I'm so guilty of this its not even funny!

For my friend's birthday today I made him caramel pecan brownies and I ate about half of it! It was so good! BTW: he has braces too but he wouldn't not eat it because of that!

I also eat nuts, chew gum, popcorn, and lots of sugar (chocolate  ) all the time! I haven't had a broken bracket in a long time! I'm not about to stop either!

The only time I really don't eat these things are when my teeth hurt randomly or from adjustments! Yeah, I know I'm really bad but you gotta live and let live!

GUILTY!!

Eat it all..................except when I have tender teeth.

Actually chewing gum has made my mouth feel better when I have a dull ache in my mouth??? :?:

Life is too short to deny ourselves of the goodies!!!

my ortho told me he didn't care what I ate--he said he sees more people with broken brackets from chewing on pens than from foods. I think these rules are for kids, too. Now, I am not physically able to eat all i want...but that's another story! Also, when I weigh how long it will take to clean whatever out of my braces, that also influences the decision!

I've been pretty good about prohibited foods, the hardest one for me is soda! But as I go on I find it easier and easier to keep myself from it. (I just had one at lunch though  ) :) But I find soda makes my teeth hurt a bit now, (in my head possibly), so its a bit easier to stay away.

The one thing I really miss... caramel!!! :( :(

I'ven eaten everything I wanted to eat....popcorn, caramel and other bad stuff. Haven't broken anything...though I don't want to be a poster gal for saying it's okay either, since it may just be pure luck.

I eat everything I want, but I never drank pop (soda) anyway. I chew gum almost all my waking hours and usualy remember as I'm walking into the ortho to spit it out. I wonder what she'd say if I opened my mouth and there was gum in there? :D

Hahah yeah I'm very guilty of eating bad foods aswell, Nachos, pop, chocolate and tons of candy. Actually ate two suckers in one night after a dinner and didn't brush for a couple hours

No broken brackets yet though, just more than a few popped out wires!

Yep, I'm guilty of breaking pretty much every braces no-no rule when it comes to eating. Haven't had anything bad happen yet, so there will be no deterring me!

Temporarily rebraced Nov. 21, 2006. ( I think I've moved past temporary. )

Haha this is great :D
let's see...chocolate, pop, hard candies (but only sucking on them), beef jerky, steak, pizza, gum, cake, icecream...well you get the point. The only thing that's happened so far is a wire came out of the back bracket..but then I've only been braced 4 months so I'm sure I'll break something before my time is up

I eat anything i can chew but that limits me anyway because I have a bite plate that is a fixed appliance. My Ortho told me the rules are for irresponsible teens and younger people who tend not to take as much time getting all the gunk out after they eat. I figure I will eat everything once I get my bite plate off in March I am looking forward to my teeth touching again so I can have a nice steak :!:

What, me not stay away from the no-nos of food. don't even know what you are talking about. Yeah right.
Caramel is my favorite thing to be in chocolate. I have been very good and only had two since getting braces. I suck on popcorn everytime I go to the movies. I don't really like pop so that's not a hard one.
I love making jerky, so staying away from that is not possible. Let's see what else.
Gummies? I will not admit that I have a cupboard full of those annoying little bears taunting me to eat them. My favorite. I can't resist.
Definately GUILTY on almost every count. But I have been pretty good because I have noticed weightloss, so I think i'll keep up with it if I can.
