Even more elastics ...

#1 Post by Clo »

Hi cyberfriends,

once more I got a new elastics configuration. It looks now like this :

Image

For those who have some experience with elastics, they are size 3/16".
All nine of them. The other 2 class 2 elastics are 5/16". So yes, I have
eleven elastics now. How many more can one have huh ??? Believe me,
when I put new ones in, I can only open my mouth about half an inch. My
ortho still tries to close my bite. But without success up to now, as my
front teeth tend to open again as my molars close some ...

wow clo - that is a major configuration! I'm having elastics at some point and no idea how many or in what configuration - I guess I should ask next time.

Erm... how do you actually eat?

I am supposed to be getting elastics at some stage, now I am a little bit panicked.

weird_wired, I am pretty sure that it's more common to just have 2-4 elastics at one time, so I wouldn't worry too much :) But even if you have an 'awesome configuration', then you will know that it's one more step towards a perfect smile!
Damon 2's top and bottom, BRACED 02/22/04 and REMOVED 08/29/05. Now in bonded retainers (top and bottom) :4 wisdom teeth surgically removed on 12/22/05:

Oh my gosh Clo, is it hard to remember how to put them all on? I have a feeling this is in my future as I have an open bite as well. So far only 2 elastics but it's early on in my treatment.
Question: Do open bites relapse back over time after braces are off?
full metal braces 4/26/05~~debanded 12/13/07!
12/13/07 bonded retainers + wrap around hawley

O Clo I'm so sorry! That looks so painful and impossible to talk or eat with! :yikes: Right now after getting my bottom braces I have an open bite in the back only so I know elastics are definitely in my future! :( Your teeth definitely look gorgeous!
Good luck with those! :flowerbloom:

Just wanted to thank all who replied !

Maybe it helps that I am an engineer to be able to place them the right
way ... Nah, it is not that difficult, just a series of triangles pointing
downwards. I even am able to eat with them in, at least sometimes. It
depends on what I eat. My ortho really prefered they are in all the time.
About the relapse, I am afraid of that too. All I can do is hoping for the
best.

Again, thanks HeadgearJoe, Geri, weird_wired, johnnys_angel, Dreamer,
braceface69, spragers, Carmella. And of course hannah164, for your
kind words and the awesome rose  !!
