I had an over bite and over crowding so my incisors were all overlapping. Well I’ve had braces for 4 months and my right central incisors gum line is a lot higher than the rest of my teeth due to how it peptide previously. My question is will my gum line come down on it’s own or do you have to get work done for that to happen. I know I’m still early on in my treatment and I asked the tech but she didn’t seem 100% sure about it. One of the big reasons is I have a triangle gap in my two central incisors and my gum line looks weird lol. Thank everyone for reading and any help is good help 😁
Thanks guys!

Re: Do Gums move with teeth
I have quite a number of rather significant sized black triangles between my lower incisors and some on the sides that showed up when the crowding has been unraveled. My lower teeth were quite crowded and overlapping each other before.
I don't think the gaps are going away considering how they have showed up within the first few months of my treatment and they haven't improved one bit now that I'm already a year plus into my treatment.
From what I have read, in normal, well-aligned teeth, there is room for normally shaped gum tissue between them. But in crowded and crooked teeth that often overlap, there is no room for the gum tissue between them and hence when the crowding is resolved, the lack of gum tissue between those teeth becomes very obvious.
Later on in your treatment, your ortho could probably reshape some of your teeth to help with the black triangles and improve the contact points between your teeth, but if your gum levels are very low, perhaps only a gum graft or the pinhole gum surgery could help.

From your description it would seem that you may have gum recession, and if that's the case it will not solve itself. Are you extracting teeth to solve the overcrowding? In some cases, unlike mine though, extractions may be needed to solve the crowding, otherwise the expansion of the dental arch can cause gum recession and a host of serious problems. Do bring this up with your Ortho, to act on it soon if recession is the problem. If you teeth overlapped a lot it could also cause differences in the gum line, where they were touching.

So I had 4 premolars removed for over crowding and the one tooth with my gum line higher then the rest before braces it protruded way farther than the rest. So when the tooth came in and got in line the gum line didn’t follow if that makes sense. My teeth are now fairly in line for the exception of one of my lower teeth. I only have the issue with that one tooth high gumline and gap between the two central teeth

Oh yes, I had that too with one particular lower incisor. It was pushed outwards because there was no space. Now that it has come in line in the arch, the gum level on that tooth is lower than the rest, but definitely much better than before. I haven't seen any improvement in the last 1 year in treatment so I don't think it will improve any further, and will probably just stay like that.Remi4832 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 16, 2018 9:34 am So I had 4 premolars removed for over crowding and the one tooth with my gum line higher then the rest before braces it protruded way farther than the rest.
