Powerchains... ouch!

#1 Post by throne »

I've had braces on for a handful of months and like to think I've adjusted to the pain. At my latest adjustment this morning I got on a thicker wire and a fresh set of something called powerchains. This feels worse than when I first got on braces! So much tension and they're rubbing the inside of my mouth the wrong way. And I didn't realize it would look so goofy either, I didn't realize the blue color I chose would coat my entire set of braces!

How long does it take for this pain to subside? :(

Three days for me... Front gap was closed in 2 though. I went with white and hate it too. Thinking grey next time. Ibuprofen helps with the pain but decreases the inflammation needed to move teeth. Pain is beauty  Good luck!

Pain is beauty... seems to be the braces motto. Still pretty painful, wondering when this will subside. On the all soup diet still.

yeah take some ibuprofen and you'll be good. the pain takes maybe a week to stop totally, then it just feels like pressure. and silver is a pretty neutral color to go with

Yea man, when I first got power chains the first few days sucked. Also, pretty close to the first initial couple days of braces. But it did finally get better. But whats crazy, is it has also resurrected with pain several weeks in. And its not just the power chains, but even before then. Ive attributed this to the better technology of wires they now have than they did 20yrs ago. But thankfully most of that pain finally subsides too. For me, in HS I always chose very neutral colors and now as an adult, I'm willing to go bold. I guess, cause now many adults have braces, and its basically a norm. Good luck Man!

I just got my powerchains and rubber bands on today. It is a new type of pressure I am adjusting to. My teeth are a bit sore at the moment.

Got power chains today. Boy do they hurt! They make elastics look like a child's toy.

Sentence: 18-24 months
Actual time in braces: 22 months and 1 day

Every time I get a new set of powerchains they feel bulkier than the ones that just came off. Like my lips struggle to cover them, but they really don't. In a day or two they'll just feel like regular braces again. I've had power chains since my second appointment so I'm used to them. They actually help keep my lips away from the brackets and wires better as it fills some of the spaces between everything better than just the wire. Makes it a little harder to get wax to stick though, but I manage.
Braces for 18 months/4 days.

I got powerchains on the top 6 and bottom 6 front teeth at my last adjustment 3 weeks ago and they hurt! I have another adjustment tomorrow on the 23rd so we will see what they do this time.
