#1 Post by badbraces »

hi, just wondering if anyone tried this one? I'm hoping my teeth would move faster closing the gap. Thanks!

Don't do it unless your Orthodontist says to, there is such a thing as too much force and it can cause root resorption, basically the roots of your teeth can get smaller, which can be very bad.
Lots of crimes here

1. The upper molars bite too far ahead of the lower molars

2. Missing teeth #s 9, 14, and, 29

3. Open bite

4. Upper midline left of center

5. Lower midline right of center

6. Upper and lower teeth not straight

Sentence - 24 months, turned to 27 month.

If your orthodontist thinks double elastics were a good idea he would have prescribed them. Please follow your treatment plan or you risk doing damage. It's like thinking if a little medication is good, more is better and I'll get well faster, right? No. Orthodontic treatment is not a fast fix. Be patient and follow orders. I've got gaps all across my bottom front teeth that just seem to be moving from one tooth to the other and I'm dying for them to all close up. So I understand wanting it to go faster.

I completly agree! You can find stronger elastics than others or use double powerchains but I've never seen double elastics. Probably because it's harmful.

Movement was slow so my ortho said I could double them up and it worked. At first it felt like a lot of force and he said I might find it too uncomfortable but I got used to it.
