TPA & Speech Issues

#1 Post by sedona »

Hi -- I got my TPA installed last week.
It is driving me crazy.
I can not stand the way that my speech is affected.
Help!
Is there any hope?
Or do I just need to get used to it?
TIA! :D

I've had mine for a week and I still talk funny. Most of the time I talk completely normal, then BOOM it creeps up on me and I sound like a total idiot, slur my words, and spit profusely!! haha

Luckily I seem to make more of a deal over it.... the people I'm talking to rarely ever say or act differently when I flub up.

Hey Sedona,

I just got a TPA last week and completely understand where you are coming from. But I have found that I have adjusted slightly over the course of the last week...but it does take time and I know I still whistle when I say F's and S's and some words I can't pronounce... but it is a delicate art(?) to learn how to talk again but use your tongue differently  (be good now!) than before you had your appliance....

Lucyloop - yes I have the same problem - everything gets stuck at the roof of my mouth and in the little clips on either side of my front teeth where the little hooks are.. :x a royal pain in the butt!

Hope that you are doing better and adjust shortly. :)

Take care guys! :)
