Brown Spots.

So I have had my braces for almost five years and I've noticed recently that two of my teeth have brown spots around the bracket I have no idea what it could be and I just need someone to at least give me an idea of what the case may be. I do plan to ask my doctor once I go back to the office but I just need a little insight.

It's hard to say without pics or being an actual dentist lol. My guess would be either staining or decay/arrested decay depending on colour. It could be lots of things but I'm sure if it was something concerning your dentist would have mentioned it. X

I started noticing brown spots around my brackets too and asked my ortho about it...he said they were probably stained glue bits that should easily be scraped off. Definitely ask your ortho about them.

Your ortho, being a dentist, can answer this question definitively in about five seconds with a dental pick.

I will say that ortho-caused decay usually starts as white decalcificaiton spots, and most orthos would be on your case about them pretty quickly if you had them.
