Update:

Just went yesterday and got the brackets on my bottom arch. I was hungry yesterday evening and decided to get one of my favorite foods: BUFFALO WINGS. Well, I managed to suffer through eating 4 of them before I finally just gave up, went and brushed my teeth, popped a couple of Advil and called it a night. LOL

Man these bottom braces are ANNOYING. I really want to rip them out. I had gotten used to the top braces, and even though they would occasionally be sore I could pretty much eat what I wanted. These bottom ones are a little worse than when I first got the top ones. Anyway, I also got a spring between two of my top teeth, which is one heck of a food trap.

On a brighter note: I've been brushing my teeth so much (3 or 4 times a day) that my dental hygienist raved about how clean my teeth are. At my last cleaning a couple of weeks ago she didn't have to do much. I'll just be glad when I get used to these bottom braces. And to think: I still have rubber bands to look forward to. GREAT. It's gonna be a loooong 2 years. LOL

Hi Loopyman

Congrats on getting braces and surviving the first few weeks in the end you won't worry to much about what you eat and it gets easier. Expect if you have elastics or power chains got be careful with foods like curries as the turn them bright yellow.

I can already see changes in your teeth and if your anything like myself you will have biggest changes in those first few months.

Thanks! I'm still adjusting since I got these bottoms. For the past few days I've been lightly gnawing on my leather wallet. I feel like a teething baby. LOL! It's been pure torture. I suffered through work today. Ate a doughnut this morning and even THAT was annoying. I had just soup for lunch. I normally LOVE to eat but I have no desire to chew ANYTHING. I'm just ready to fast forward through this week! LOL! Everyone keeps telling me how good my braces look - but I'm like "do you know how they FEEL right about now???" You can HAVE them!" All my friends who have had braces keep telling me it gets better. But UGH right now this SUCKS! Lol

Well, got convinced by my ortho assistant to get LIGHT BLUE ligs today, and I'm kinda digging them! I think they look good. However, my teeth HURT LIKE HECK! Just popped three Advil. Guess I'll be dealing with this pain for the next few days. Ahhh the thing we go through for straight teeth. LOL

I'm 37 and just got my braces on 10/01 so I feel a little better that I'm not the only older adult to just now get braces. :D
