Serious mouth pain...need help!

#1 Post by HeyKay1991 »

Yesterday, my ortho changed the brackets on some of my top and bottom teeth. I honestly thought she ripped one of my teeth out she yanked so hard. I think the pain from all of this equals to or even tops my first 2 weeks with braces. What are some tips on how to get relief? Motrin doesn't even begin to touch the pain I'm feeling on the gums in my front two teeth. I also have a wonderful cut on my gum from either where the bracket cut me, or she cut me with her instrument. Please help!

Maybe lightly swish cold water to reduce some inflammation. Maybe get a topical oral pain reliever or numbing gel.

Warm salt water swishes may be worth a try.

Second the warm salt water rinses. Once every couple of hours, if you can.

Thanks for the help everyone! I switched between saltwater rinses and a hydrogen peroxide rinse for the sore. My mouth is feeling much better!
