So before I got braces, I had really bad oral hygiene and had to get it all sorted before even thinking about braces.

For about the last year, I've been seeing my dentist/hygenist every three months.

For anyone who knows, my gums had multiple 6mm measurements which is pretty bad.

Now, everything is within the healthy/recommended range of 3mm or less. I had my usual clean and polish by the hygenist today then a check up right after by my dentists. He had a look and said there was nothing that needed to be done and everything is looking great. He's not my usual dentist but he had a look over my history and was pretty impressed.

So, I only have to get a clean/check up every 6 months like normal people now.

Just wanted to share that you can improve your oral health even with braces! And it is well worth the effort.

It is amazing how much braces changes things mentally, oral hygiene becomes so important, and then as you see differences from braces and keeping up with the hygiene you can get quite a pep in your step!

Yes, definitely! Even though there are times, too, when you are over the look, the maintenance, the care needed lol

I've been having a case of the "over it"s the last couple of weeks but the good news today has made me think, well, maybe things aren't as bad as I let myself think.

Wow! It's been awhile since I posted haha. 14 months in now and I am completely over the metal braces.

Had my regular adjustment today and asked about moving into invisalign. He said it won't be a problem, just extra costs but he wants to correct my bite a bit more before changing. He said to remind him in six weeks. Can't wait!

I'll post an updated pic later!

Wow! I haven't been here in SO long!

I'm closing in on 2 years in braces now. Time has actually gone a lot faster than I thought it would.

I will try and post a progress picture at some point!

I got my first elastics yesterday (Class 2 for canines and molars). Still quite uncomfortable but I'm expecting that to pass in another day or two.

I actually like the feeling of that bit of pain/pressure cause then I know things are working!

I may be crazy but I think I have already noticed some movement on my upper left canine in just one day.

Wow, almost 3.5yrs! They look awesome, and what a difference. You definitely deserve to be done. Finish line in sight! Good luck with the home stretch.

Thanks SinkFullOfDinner.

It's more like three years because for 4 months I moved town and was unable to lock down an ortho during this period lol

But still, very happy and so looking forward to getting them off asap!
