Are you competing with me to see who can drag this out the longest? lol You've made me wonder if I should get a cleaning before braces. Do they normally suggest that, I wonder?
Your plan sounds great and I love all the details!

Sounds like your moving along nicely. As it stands now I will have the spacers on 2 weeks then go in for for a mold for my expander and at that time I think bigger spacers for two weeks and then the expander and top braces. I've been reading up on ex pander's and I need to ask him is it a palate expander or and arch expander I will be getting, there's is a difference I guess and that was three months ago when we had the consult I cant remember. I'll fine out all that tomorrow. I've heard that having spacers to no more painful than getting you braces adjusted so I guess I'll get an early start on how that feels.

Can you tell me how to write my own story and post my pic's I'm new here and cant find where you do that.
Good luck with everything I'm looking forward to following your story. :D

Hahah, Sunshine, I have you beat! Though I don't think I want first prize for that one! And I think getting a cleaning before braces are fixed on might be a good idea, and I read lots of people doing the same on this board. But they steer clear away from whitening until afterwards, I think? Most of the time?

Sheryl: So two sets of spacers for about a month and then you get your expander+top brace :rawk: !! Will you be eating differently during spacer-month? I'm thinking about easy-to-make soft foods and drinks I can prepare at home once the wisdom teeth are removed

Oh! You can make your own forum thread in this section by clicking New Topic. Then you'll be able to write your own story in the Message body and give it a title in the Subject heading. You can attach photos underneath the message body by clicking the Browse button and then Add The File button once you've found your photo. You can delete files in the same area too :D

Eek, it's been awhile since I stopped by here!

I had a consultation with the dental surgeon last July 17th, and tomorrow is the day my two bottom wisdom teeth are removed. One step closer!

The consultation went well and the surgeon said it'd be rare if I had any complications. We looked at my x-rays, discussed pre and post-oral surgery procedure and what to expect during recovery, etc etc. The clinic and the staff were all very kind :)

The surgeon also talked about the possibility of doing a bone graft at the same time! The plan would have been to remove a piece of bone from my jaw during the wisdom tooth removal, and place it where I have that large gap. It's to help prepare the area for a dental implant. But since I won't be getting implants there until after my braces are removed, we decided not to do that yet. The bone will collapse again in the 2.5 years time my ortho treatment will take  Oh well!

The technical and money side of things for any Canadians who are interested:

Consultation: $85

Extraction of impacted tooth 48: $340
Extraction of impacted tooth 38: $340
Under sedative anesthetic: $370
IV therapeutic drug - dex: $45
TOTAL: $1095

And that's all for awhile I think! I'm crossing my fingers for a late September or early October date to go back to the ortho office!
