I have no idea what the next step is. Im loosing patience here, lol. The ortho asst told me that the ortho would work up a new treatment plan based on my decision......that was last Thursday afternoon. Im sure Im their only patient, right?
I agree on them forgetting we have a budget. I know whats right is best but if something else is suitable and considerably less then at this point Im going the cheap route. Im pushing myself to even do this because I feel like Im wasting money....you know the whole mom vs kids needs. (My kids will still get braces but this extra couple thousand could be used for theirs)

It's so appalling that they wouldn't consider this, and not even try to discuss options and finances with you. Good for you for putting your foot down! Even though it should be their job to supply you with the best options as soon as their known, and not trickle through them like that
You went through a whirlwind of consults and dentists and orthos and surgeons, I hope it all works out for you!
Thanks Cat! I have literally talked to over 50% of the dental populating in my town/city. ugh, Im loosing patience that I havent been called back about my new treatment plan, its been 2 weeks, I think.
Well I have an extraction date and a brace date. At first it was going to be 2 weeks sooner but then my ortho really advised against the oral surgeon I was going with so I scheduled with someone else. My original brace date was June 6 but now thats when Im having my extraction. Then I have to wait 7-10 days and that time falls when the ortho is off on vacation for a week. So June 20 is my brace date. I feel like thats forever away but at the same time now that I have an actual date Im nervous about how it will go.

Hi, the time will pass really quickly trust me. I thought, three weeks before getting mine, that it was a lifetime away but the time raced by and the last few days came and went and before I realised it, it was braces day! Good luck.
And yep, it does pass quite quickly (but drags all at the same time!). I had to book in a month in advance and it took me almost a month to decide which road of treatment I wanted to take so I had about 2 months after my consult before they went on.
I had my molds done on April 16 so it will be over 2 mos between that and braces. I guess since I went to 587 ortho consults it feels like Ive been doing this forever.
Hi there, I was reading your story and saw something similar to mine I don't have braces yet but I will be going in for spacers May 30th and the end of June I will be getting a palate expander and top brackets then later bottom teeth. I so sorry your having a hard time if it was me I would continue to push through and do what you need to do to the results you want after all you've waited all your life for this.
My store is similar that I was always teased in school for my over bite ( sucked my thumb as a child) they used to call me Bucky Beaver . A name I hate to this day. Any way my ortho. wants to give me a palate expander because my jaw is to narrow to make room for my teeth-to go back so I wont have to have more teeth pulled I'm all ready missing 2 teeth for other reasons and I will be getting implants at the end of all this too. Hes not quite sure if it will work I'm 54 and the older you get the harder it is to move things I guess we will wait and see. I will look forward to hearing you progress and sharing mine in the days to come
Hang in there
Sounds like maybe you are finally making some progress! Hopefully once your braces are on everything will be smooth sailing! It seemed like you were having trouble justifying the expense of braces, but I think that your happiness and self confidence is important and you should make your needs a priority at times as well as your kids. Also, overall dental health is important. You are making an investment in that dental health by correcting those problems. I think sometimes as moms we forget that our happiness is important too! Good luck and it will be June before you know it!!

I agree that money was holding me back. I hate spending money on myself....even clothes. I am getting better but old habits are hard to break!

my app on my phone says 22 days. My mind says 722 days. It will probably work out better this way because we are going out of town on June 8 so I dont want to be 2 days into braces at a big family party and worrying about my teeth plus the 6 hr car ride. Then the week after the ortho is on vaca.
Sounds like a plan! Think about it as time to enjoy the pre-braced life now that you know what lies ahead! Will you be having a family BBQ by chance? Would be the perfect opportunity to get your fill on stuff like steak and corn on the cob
