The elastics really do work! I know it's been very difficult for you. So glad you're getting a good result.

It's been very difficult for me. Those triangles (vampire fangs) made it impossible to eat or talk. Very frustrating. Not sure I'm completely done with them either. Asked if I could get the buttons taken off the incisors and the ortho said no, she might still use those! Grr! Stuffing my face while I can. I've already gained a pound in a few days.

I will continue to document the progess. They are now working on making my premolars touch each other.

Looks great! Why do you not have a wire at all?

Those are lingual braces, the brackets and wires are placed behind the teeth :) they are also known as incognito braces if I'm not wrong.

Correct, they are lingual braces. Not sure if they were really worth it. I mean, look at how many brackets I have on the outside. And its been that way for 4 months with who knows how many more to go :(

You mean those hooks are just regular ceramic brackets with hooks on?

Yep. I had orthognathic surgery so the surgeon needed hooks on the outside of each tooth for the surgery. The orthodontist just decided to keep most of the brackets attached after surgery so I could use elastics on them. Only my top 2 front teeth and bottom 4 front teeth don't have brackets.

That's got to be frustrating. I almost got linguals too, but they never told me I would need brackets on the front for elastics (I'm going to start wearing elastics in a few months).

I wish the orthodontist would have told me that I'd have all those brackets on the outside for so long. I probably would have chosen the clear regular style braces. It would have saved me a couple thousand dollars too!

I tried to politely ask to have the brackets she's not using taken off the outside of my teeth, but was told No and that those might be needed again in a few months. Joy!
