Tobilei wrote:I love peanut butter too! Peanut butter cups, peanut butter fudge, peanut butter ice cream. I even make an order occasionally from the states for Peanut Butter & Co mighty maple (it has crunchy maple crystals in it and is amazing!) or the Dark Chocolate Dreams one. My next order is going to be Cinnamon and Raisin peanut butter (mmmm).

My parents went overseas last year and at my insistence brought home a jar of spekuloos spread. It's like those cinnamon/nutmeg dutch cookies with the texture of peanut butter. I have to stop myself eating it with a spoon! (so yes, peanut butter is fine with braces, it eventually wears off :P ).

I know that crunchy tooth feeling you're talking about. I've had a couple of teeth that actually wiggle a bit. My very back molar actually makes a clicking noise when I push it with my tongue sometimes and then feels uncomfortable until it clicks back into place *shudder* and when my front gap first closed up I could see that I could move my teeth closer together and further apart for a day or so until they settled into place (so gross!).

I can empathize with dentist nerves :( I'm petrified of dentists so knowing teeth are coming out is really intimidating.
oh my god YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!! Wow! i have never tried any of that stuff, I might have to order some myself!! and that Spekuloos spread sounds amazing... *drools* hehehe

omg scary! that is like when a baby tooth is lose and you can move it to one side and then kinda move your cheek and it clicks back in, omg i hope that doesnt happen to me! lol. Maybe once I get my braces on they will do that, I guess that is normal yeh? lol :)

I hope the dentist can give me some laughing gas or something cos I am trying so hard not to be anxious but I was anxious with them just CLEANING my teeth, imagine if they are removing teeth, god... i will be FINE! RIGHT? lol

HI KIDS!

Just a question :) As I am getting traditional braces, which colour should I go first?

I am thinking blue? but I dont know.. then I am thinking tooth colour but they might stain?

I have about 2 weeks to decide! lol but wanted to know your thoughts if any of you have colours :)

thanks :flowerbloom:

Haha, yep, that stuff is great! I make orders from iherb.com (not sure if it's okay to link that here or not). They post stuff, providing you keep it under 4lbs for about $6 and it always makes it here in under 15 days. They don't have all the flavours but they have enough (the Artisana coconut butter is pretty addictive too-just sayin' ).

Yeah, I think the clicky feeling is kind of like loose baby teeth. It's kind of freaky and gross but at the same time you can't help but keep making it click

I get anxious about getting my teeth cleaned too. That stuff hurts!

As for ligs, my daughter has metal braces and has had heaps of colours (not tooth colour though). I currently have I think pearl ligs and so far so good, I usually get smoke and have never had them stain (I haven't tested curry though and if you drink green cordial like my daughter does, well, expect green ligs!). Teal is pretty. She currently has hot pink which I love but she doesn't. Blue is nice but quite obvious. Most of them fade, but the darker colours don't stain. Her favourite colour oddly enough has been silver because it never stains and most of the time doesn't really fade either (but of course, it's boring so sometimes she goes back to colours).

That's my currently question too... 2 weeks to decide what color! I am getting ceramic on top and metal on the bottom... can't decide if I should just rock the light blue that I was right away or ease myself into braces with no color on top( meaning smoke or pearl or one of those good less-staining invisible ligs) and maybe just color on the bottom...

I almost think, "hey, people are going to see them no matter what so why really try to hide them..."

Such a dilemma we are having!

wow yummmm i might have to check that out :) :)

oh so you can get silver ligs to go with the metal braces? that is comforting, maybe? lol does it make you look like you have tons of metal in your mouth? i keep thinking to myself "embrace the brace!" lol but then i think god i am so scared of what i am going to look like... what is smoke colour? is that grey? i just want a nice colour to begin with that isnt going to be so bright or stand out heaps. what would you recommend? :)

Hi Everyone :)

Today I bought myself a Waterpik. I have been reading EVERYWHERE how hard flossing is with braces and how waterpik's are the best thing for getting food out of braces, appliances and gums etc! so I got one :) as I am getting my upper lingual arch with nance button on tuesday (2 DAYS AWAY! ARGH! :yikes: ) I thought I should get one while I can, cos of the 5 teeth coming out thursday :yikes: i wont be in any mood to go to the shops next weekend and get one. It is a cordless one and is on charge at the moment so I can give it a go tonight! excitement city! lol! :-*

I am getting a bit nervous now for Tuesday but i think MORE nervous for Thursday and the extraction day. I hope it all goes well and they can get the teeth out properly. I have no idea how they will get the wisdom tooth out its so far back, it has came threw but in the xray it looks SO BIG argh i will try not to think of that haha and i hope when they take the 2 baby teeth out that are decaying that they do not break and come out in one go cos i have heard it is not good if they break when they are getting taken out  so fingers crossed it goes well. I have stocked up on puddings, icecream and jelly all set and ready to go! I am going to make some more pumpkin, sweet potato, normal potato and some curry powder soup tomorrow night in prep for maybe not eating solids after the lingual arch goes in.

I will check back in here on Tuesday to let you know how the lingual arch is going :)

until then, hope everyone is going well! :)

I really like the silver. I think it's elegant which is why my daughter loves it. This lady has a blog that has a really good photo of silver compared to colour: http://tinselteethchronicles.blogspot.c ... g-end.html

Smoke ligs look clear but aren't. When you see them on the stick thing when they come out of the drawer they look grey but once they're stretched over the brackets they look clear.

There's other pretty colours that are pale, baby blue and a baby pink colour, my daughter hasn't had either of those though so I haven't seen them in reality.

Good luck for the extraction!!

thanks Tobilei :) I like the silver and I just saw a pic of "smoke" as well, and I like them both :) definitely going one of those for the first time I get them on, and yeh i did see some pics also of baby pink and baby blue and they look good, i also like the purple ones, so I think once I get brave, I will try those ones out :) thanks for your suggestion of the silver or smoke ligs! :) big help!

So this morning, I tried out my WaterPik. just to see how the gadget works before I have appliances and metal in my mouth! it was the funniest thing ever! lol! I turned it on to see if it would work and WHOOOSH this water flew out of the top and onto the bathroom wall and I couldnt stop laughing and said to myself "well! i guess that works!" lol.

I then stuck it in my mouth and man it was crazy hahaha, i need to get some practice I think!!! I watched a clip on how to do it the night before, but I will have to just take my time and learn how to use it properly but it was an experience this morning and water was going EVERYWHERE! hahahaha!

did anyone else have trouble with there WaterPik first use? and did you eventually get the hang of it?

Tomorrow is nance lingual arch day... here is to some solids today and then back to blended goods tomorrow lol!

Have you ever heard of something called Oral Breeze? I tried using a waterpick and couldn't stand getting water all over the place. I was such a clutz using that thing, and I'm anal about spots on my mirror, which I was getting a TON of using the waterpick.

So, I got this little gem for my shower: (go to amazon and look up Oral Breeze. I'm still a new member and can't include the link in this post :( )

BEST. INVESTMENT. EVER...... seriously. Give it a try if you're as messy as I was with the waterpick! No mess and no fuss now with this thing in my shower!

Hi LyraM45 :) OoOoO no i havent but I just had a look on amazon and it looks good! so you hook it to your shower? I dont have a tap in the shower, just the shower head, and a seperate bath so not sure if it would work for me, but using it in the shower is a great idea cos it doesnt matter where the water goes!

I will persist with my waterpick and see how it all goes lol, maybe i will get better at it in time? here is hoping! :-*

thanks for telling me about the oral breeze though, if i dont master the waterpik i will be looking more closely into getting one of those! :)

I have a generic oral breeze I bought off ebay and I hate it. In fairness I have not tried it in the shower (I need to figure out how to remove the shower bracket from the wall :? ) The water was always too cold and you're not allowed to run water that's too hot through it, plus trying to get the water pressure right was a nightmare (and that was before I even got it in my mouth and got water everywhere!). I was very sad. I wanted to love it so much :( Maybe I need to go and put it in the shower and see how it goes.

I think it would be hard to get the shower bracket from the wall lol, maybe they are made for people that have a bath and shower in one? so that then you have the normal tap and the shower taps. I will just persist with my waterpik and let the water fly around the bathroom until I have it under control hahahaha. The oral breeze DOES sound good tho, but I think it is not suitable for my shower DOH!
