I look forward to seeing your progress when you get your braces on! I went with all metals and have been having plenty of fun with colours :) (check my story) People don't seem to be bothered @ all that I'm wearing them and the huge improvements in such a short time have given me much more confidence to not care!

Tell your ortho about the tmj stuff. I had clicking, stiffness and pain before braces but it has much improved since wearing braces and improving my bite.

I remember how nervous I was before getting my braces on! The ortho talks fast and you don't know what is going on!! But it all works out eventually and before you know it, 7 months have passed!!

Hope everything goes well @ your next appointment!

HI Chaotic Choppers :)

thanks and I will have to check out your story :) yep I think i am going to go all metal and at first was not sure about getting colours but i think some of the colours might be fun, like light blue ones or something :)

I will talk to him about my jaw, i dont really get clicking but i do get alot of pain and stiffness so i will see what he has to say.

thanks for your post, will type an update on tuesday of how I went :) have a good rest of the weekend! :jump:

Well, today is the day that I get my spaces. Least I hope so, I just want this all started. I have spent the last few days eating chocolate, meat and cereals lol all my fav things to prepare myself for possibly a week of drinking protein shakes and eating mashed up vegies and also probably yoghurt! lol.

I have a payment plan which I want to adjust with my ortho, i hope he accepts and if so, then today will be the first step towards getting my metal mouth :)
I am excited but at the same time, terrified!!! :yikes:

My appointment is at 5pm today, so see how it goes!! I will probably write in this tonight once its over :)

Hello again everyone, here is an update!

I went to the orthodontist tonight and I now have A PLAN IN PLACE! :D Tonight I got my spaces put in. 4 in total. Up the top around 1 tooth on each side of the mouth. When they first went in, they felt, weird. Like steak was stuck in my teeth. It took the orthodontist about 2 seconds to put them in, seriously he must of done it a million times before! He said I should be ok with no pain tonight, but then tomorrow I will feel some pain. I can already feel like my front teeth are moving forward just by the small amount of pressure that the spaces are putting on the teeth. NOT COOL lol.

Next tuesday (26th) I am getting the spaces out and getting molar bands put in. Then the following tuesday I am getting the upper lingual arch put in (I thought it was a lower one for some reason!) anyway, I feel I am going to have a massive lisp lol, and I hope i get used to it fast... THEN that friday hopefully, i am getting my 5 teeth extracted at the dentist. Between now and then I have to ring up the sleep sedation guy and have a consultation with him and also book in with my dentist. I am going to organise this tomorrow. I will not rest until those two appointments are in place. I am estimating my braces will go on on 15th March like i had planned :) so I am pretty excited about that. Not until those appointments are in place will I have that date secured, but see how it goes. Also give my teeth a week to heal, I dont mind waiting 2 weeks if need be for them to heal properly. I guess it depends on what the orthodontist suggests :) I am just happy that its all on the horizon :-*

Dinner tonight was interesting. I cooked what I had planned to eat, which was chicken, and I made some mash potato and mashed up my brocolli and cauliflower in there too. Well, I tried to eat the chicken but was so scared to bite down on the bands i just couldnt do it. I manage to eat TINY bits of it by basically just swallowing it whole LOL (not good for digestion!) but then it was useless so I stopped. I ate the mash potato concoction but it has not filled me up :(

Tomorrow for breakfast I have a chocolate protein shake, and then morning tea is pureed pear and peach with yoghurt! lol. Tomorrow for lunch I have tomato soup (even tho i think its going to be hot weather... eep...) and i have no idea what for afternoon tea probably another protein shake! I have no idea what to eat for dinner either... hrmmmmmm... I might do some scrambled eggs tomorrow night for tea! I dunno... I am going out to dinner on saturday for a friends bday as well as going to my mums house sunday arvo for pizzas for her bday... I wonder if I will be able to feel comfortable eating that stuff by then.... hrmmm..

well for now, its couch time, and see how I feel tomorrow! Will keep you posted! :)

have a nice night! :jump:

Yay you must be so excited!!!! That's great that now you have a plan and can look forward to a real date! You def are going to be busy until then with other appts! lol We will be getting our braces on around the same time! Did the ortho say how long he predicted the braces would be on for? And that's funny about the chicken, lol I hope your protein shakes will be able to fill you up! I'm planning on having to stock up on those for breakfast for myself, what kind do you recommend?

Hi Annashefia :)

Yes I am very excited and I even said that to my orthodontist last night lol and I said "is that lame?" and he said "no it is really good!" and then continued to talk about how its exciting to see the changes and stuff :).

It would be awesome if we were getting our braces on at the same time!! He said that I will have them on for 1.5 - 2 years. I am thinking more like 2 years but depending on how fast they move who knows. I have in my head 2 years so that is OK :)

Well this morning I am eating porridge, it is OK. I have pain this morning. I feel very tender to bite down and I cant really cos one of the spaces on top is hitting the baby decaying tooth below it (i cannot eat on my right side cos of it) and when i even try to chew on my left side it still hits the sore tooth and its like arghhh! The porridge is going ok but I have to kinda suck on it in the middle of my mouth cos i cooked it to long and it is gluggy! I am not sure where abouts you live Anna (can I call you Anna? :) ) but im from Australa and I go to a gym called Fernwood Womens Gym and they sell the "keep it lean" protein powder and I have that in chocolate flavour 8) I will probably have that for morning tea now. I have tomato soup for lunch and if that doesnt fill me up I have a banana i can mash after LOL.

I think I might pop a nerofen soon cos I the pain feels weird. Kinda like my front top teeth are being moved forward and they are so tender.

Brushing teeth is weird sensation with them in. I have read to just brush normally as they will not come out, but I am to scared to put to much pressure on them so i have just used a really soft brush. Hopefully that is oK. I bought my toothbrush and floss to work today incase I feel like they need a clean.

Well, I better ring up the dental sedation guy and my dentist to see if I can book these tooty pegs in for a yanking! lol.

Have a lovely day :) and I can't wait to be braces buddies!

well, i pretty much just posted this in another forum but its how I feel lol

I think the spacers have moved up in the gap more toward the gum cos when I bite down now I can't feel the rubber but I feel my teeth and they feel weird and I think they have moved a bit which is what the spacers are meant to do I guess. I also still feel my front teeth are squished together and my bite feels wiggly! I STILL cannot chew... AND i just brushed my teeth and I tried to floss in between the front lot of teeth and it hurts!!!!!! but then i think "well they must be doing their job!" so i get over it hahaha.

I MISS FOOD and its only day 2 of spaces. I will be like this for at least 6-7 weeks yet with all the teeth pulling and braces stuff yet to come!  I AM STARVING... this liquid smooshed up food diet just isnt for me. I LOVE my food and not being able to chew it is really getting me down. I had scrambled eggs AGAIN tonight with canned tuna in it. I am going out for lunch tomorrow and I have pre-ordered Salmon with vegies. I am hoping the salmon will be ok cos its normally flaky and soft. so fingers crossed cos i dont want to spend money on a lunch that I cannot eat! :?

It is also CAKE DAY at work tomorrow, and the cake is chocolate ripple... well... that is sticky and YUMMY and that means its a NO NO for these spaces... i hope i can eat some normal food on saturday cos really I might rip my hair out lol

I have found a new friend in my handheld blender tho. I have been blending everything! I blended up WATERMELON tonight  LOL yeh.. that turned into a watermelon smoothie, well basically just blended watermelon and I could drink it lol. The good thing is, I might lose some weight on this spaces diet lol. Not that i have weight to lose, it would be nice to have a bit off my tummy tho (i have a bit of a booze jelly belly hahaha!)

well... day 3 of spaces tomorrow. Still scared I am playing with them with my tongue to much and they will fall out lol. Teeth are sore but also scared to even attempt to chew incase i pull them out OR food gets stuck in them and i pick it and then pick the spacer out... I wonder if the molar bands are going to be just as bad??

nearly the weekend thank god! :) good night all and sweet dreams :rose:

Upset tummy??

#38 Post by rhibee83 »

Hi Everyone

This is a bit forward and probably TMI! but anyone who is eating a soft food diet of blended food, soups, etc, are you suffering from diarreha? I have been eating soft foods for 3 days now and each day i have had bad diarreha, the pains, it is awful and I am wondering if this is because my tummy doesnt really need to digest my food seeing as its all mush anyway??

I really want it to go away :( is anyone getting this or should I see a doc?

thanks in advance.

Rhi

I have really messed up digestion issues and yes, eating nothing but puree'd food can cause problems. Could be any painkillers you might be taking too though or an increase in fruit if you're drinking a lot of smoothies/blended fruit puree all of a sudden. Do you think you could attempt some pasta? Pasta, bananas, bread etc are good for clearing this particular problem up (maybe even come cooked oats or something, just anything with a bit of bulk).

SPACES COME OUT IN 2 DAYS! WOOHOO!!

Ok so my teeth are not feeling as tender now and I can eat SANDWICHES! YAY!! lol so its basically all I have been eating ALL WEEKEND including a WHOLE TUB OF BEN AND JERRYS! lol man I love that icecream and I only discovered it in Australia about 4 months ago and they sell it at my local video shop so THAT IS DANGEROUS hhahaha!! love it! I also made a chocolate mud cake for my mums bday today, it was soooo good! I think I have OD'd on SUGAR this weekend. might as well do it now when I cant do it so much with braces!

I still cannot eat meat, like steak or chicken. I have been eating tuna and salmon. Least I can eat sandwiches so I am happy with that including ham and shaved chicken and tomato :) yay!

I wonder how my teeth will feel with the molar bands on.... hopefully not as tender???

Hmm a rash doesn't sound right. Maybe you are sick and a trip to the doctor is in order? If you're eating sandwiches and stuff you shouldn't still be dashing to the loo a heap.

Lol @ the Ben and Jerry's. I haven't tried it (they sell it at a grocery store near my Mum's).....probably a good thing if it's that good. I'll be flubby and poor all in the space of a couple of weeks  Me and ice cream-we have issues.

Do they put the braces on the same day the spacers come out? Unfortunately you'll likely be on soft food for a while then too :(

Hope you're feeling a bit better soon!

sorry Tobilei just a quick one as I am at work hehe.

Ben and Jerry's- you gotta try it, it is the best! lol even just a sample pot (small ones) ;o)

Nope! i dont get my braces till about 15th March. I get molar bands tomorrow. then the following week (tue) upper lingual arch, and then that thursday 5 TEETH EXTRACTED :( i am scared!! and then once they have healed up a bit then I will get the braces on. It is all actually starting to sink in how much work needs to be done and I am trying really hard not to freak out to much and over think it all!

thanks hun hope I am feeling better soon too! I have my friends 30th on this weekend and I want to be able to have a good time! 8)

I'll grab a pot next time I'm at video ezy or over near Mum's (I think the local video ezy has it, it used to, mind you it's been a couple of years since I've set foot in there). Can I blame you when I'm poor and dumpy? :P

What's the best flavour?

Wow, yeah, you have a lot going on :( I don't have bands on my molars. Just brackets. Although my problem is a lack of teeth so I don't think he'd have any problems shoving a few hundred molar bands between my back teeth at the moment. I can get an interdental toothbrush in there with room to move (I'm sure this sounds like a good thing right now to you, promise, it's not!).

5 extractions is pretty intimidating! I had one and was terrified about it. It was a baby tooth. I think I had more trouble with them getting it out though than when I had a wisdom tooth extracted and that was nothing. It's pretty quick though and heals quickly.

I'll keep fingers crossed for a good weekend for you!

(PS. Just wondered if Ben and Jerry's is sweetened with High fructose corn syrup? If you're eating a lot of it, that stuff can cause all kinds of digestive distress and seems to be the sweetener of choice in US foods).
