Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Hi Tobilei,
Yes, I can see a difference in the space in your lower arch. Looks much smaller! Nice. I'm glad that you're not having as much trouble with the biting thing as you were but am sorry to hear that you're having trouble with some clenching. Mine seems to have gotten a little bit better. I'm generally only waking about once a night. Still, I'd like to be not even doing that!
I am waiting and waiting to start to see some changes in the space between my two front teeth. I think it has closed just a little bit, but it's not been much. I'm hoping when I go back for my first adjustment in January and they put in a bigger wire that will really start to get things moving.
Anyway, I hope you and your family will have a wonderful Christmas full of all the blessings that the season brings!

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Thanks Dee! I'm sure you will see some movement soon! I think that one has only closed because it was one of the smaller one's. The top one hasn't moved at all.
You have a lovely Christmas too! I hope you're catching up with family xx

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Hi Tobilei,
I've been pretty upset because I now have a fairly substantial gap in my lower arch that was not there two months ago. I don't know what has caused it to open up. I'm trying not to worry about it unduly. I know he will be able to get rid of it.
My teeth are feeling really weird the past few days. They are not fitting together at all in the same way they used to. Makes the clenching all the more "difficult".
No, I'm not catching up with family. My mother, brother and nephew are all in Sarasota, Florida, about 4,000 miles from me. But that's okay because I'm Jewish. I just finished celebrating Hannukah and that was a nice (but small) holiday. Best to you and yours!

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Yeah, some of my gaps around the sides have gotten larger. I assume it's as some close, others get larger temporarily. I know from looking at my daughters teeth that they all match up in the end.
And ugh, I know that feeling! I think I mentioned that my top and bottom right tooth match up now in terms of biting down, but the left doesn't so it feels like I bite things with only one side of my mouth at the front. It's awful! I really hope the left one's shift soon and meet up a bit better.

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
I know what you mean. I think that all my teeth in my lower arch must be moving in some way. My back molars feel very strange -- like they're in the wrong place. I've just been very taken aback by all of this. I mean, he told me that he would "upright" my bottom teeth because they were tilted outward a bit but I didn't think he'd be actually moving them from side to side.

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Haha, yes my teeth always feel like they're in the wrong place now!! And in between they feel kind of cruncy and a little loose I guess.
Woke up this morning with a sore molar. I'm hoping it's going to pass for Christmas lunch tomorrow! So far no ulcers today (woo! Yesterday was a tough one). Knowing my luck I'll wake up tomorrow with sore teeth AND huge ulcers

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
I hope that doesn't happen. Hope you get at least a 24 hour reprieve so you can enjoy Christmas! Sorry to hear that you have a sore molar. My back left side has been feeling really weird and kind of sore all day, too. Not sure what's up with that!

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Whew! Didn't realize it had been so long since I last wrote in here!
Dee, Christmas was a disappointment. I ate extra pavlova to make up for the lack of lunch foods that I managed to chew
Things are moving along okay. Some gaps closed up, then re-opened while others closed. I got a full week of no teeth hurting which was nice, but was broken 3 days ago by a hurting molar. It's feeling better today though. I'm still not used to have braces I don't think. They still rub all the time and annoy me and I have moments of anxiety where I feel like if I don't take them off right this second I might lose it (yes, I'm sure I'm odd) but those moments pass and thankfully don't happen too often!
I'll take some progress photo's soon. It's been about a month since I took some.
I had a braces nightmare night before last which was interesting
I dreamed that when I went to clean my teeth all the glue had melted and I plucked all my brackets off my teeth. I headed into my ortho's office but he was busy and I had to see the other one there (only problem was it looked nothing like my ortho's office so I'm not sure where I was
). I was very specific about needing clear brackets put on, which he did, however he used some weird tin metal lining to line all my gums and stretch across some of my teeth. Needless to say when he showed me I was horrified!
I decided to go to the receptionists and on the way past the other room in the building noticed my ortho there, except he'd turned into a GP and was taking patients. I sat outside his office waiting to try and catch him between patients so I could ask him to please fix the horrendous mess that was now in my mouth! Thankfully I woke up at that point (see? I said I was odd!).
Oh well, I suppose it wasn't as bad as the one where I dreamed every tooth in my head was loose and was only being held in there by the braces!
I have my first adjustment this Thursday. I'm feeling both excited and nervous and a little bit of dread at the thought of being back to soup for a week or so (and it's so very hot in Australia at the moment, soup feels so very wrong!). I'll let you know how it goes

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Hi Tobelei,
Sorry to hear that Christmas was such a disappointment. I know, eating is just not much fun with all this hardware in your mouth.
I'm glad to know that you got at least a small break from the discomfort you've been feeling. As for your dream? I don't really know what to make of that except to say that it sounds like a classic anxiety dream. I haven't had any of those, thank goodness! I think they're awful when they do occur, though. You have my sympathy!
Glad to know you are seeing at least some progress with things. I am still waiting for mine to start. Though I know that something is going on in there because my teeth definitely do not fit together the way they used to. Not sure exactly what's happening. Am going in today for my first adjustment so I guess I will find out. I may come home with a new wire and a powerchain. So, I am psyching myself up for some pain over the next few days. I went to the grocery store yesterday and stocked up on more "soft food' in order to prepare. A friend said she would make some soup for me and drop it off later today. She makes the most wonderful soup so I'm looking forward to that. I'll be posting in my main thread later on today, I hope. Take care!

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Hey Dee
(lol I think you're the only person reading this
)
Eating is getting better. I struggled Christmas day because I was having a sore teeth day (and I didn't feel very well to boot). Most of the time I'm okay now (thank goodness, thought it was never going to happen-plus I just read in another thread you got to eat pizza! YAY!)
Yes, it probably was an anxiety dream! I dream quite often in general. All weird. I feel like I dream in Stephen King style (I've told my husband about a couple of them and even he thinks I'm a bit whacky
).
Ugh, I hate that feeling that your teeth no longer fit together! My bite seems to change ALL the time and it makes it all kinds of fun to chew!
I hope the new wire doesn't cause you too much pain! And I'll hope for you that you get the powerchain you want next time

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Hi Tobilei,
I suppose that (kicking and screaming
) I'll survive. I just hate all of this, you know. I will be so, so glad when this whole thing is finished. I was sitting here tonight and moving my tongue along the back of my upper teeth on the left side and realized that they feel really loose! I know this is normal but I find it very alarming. I guess I also have a worry (deep down inside) that my teeth will fall out.
I certainly don't envy you if you are dreaming in the same fashion as Stephen King writes. That guy is one seriously creepy dude. I've read a lot of his books over the years and finally had to stop for awhile because I was just getting too creeped out. I did read his last book 11/23/63 (about the Kennedy assassination) and really enjoyed it.
I didn't realize you were actually sick on Christmas day. I'll bet THAT wasn't any fun at all! Hope that the New Year is being good to you guys so far.
Anyway, it's getting late and I have to take my dog out for his nightly constitutional and then head off to bed. Have a good day tomorrow!

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
All back from my appointment
It was relatively uneventful. My orthodontist said things are moving really well and there's been a lot of changes, particularly on the left hand side so that's good.
I got new and thicker wires put in and a new bracket on the upper right molar which was unbracketed until now as he thought it would be a source of a fair bit of irritation. Funny enough, that tooth must sit further in in my jaw than the one in front because I can't even tell it's there!
I have a bend in my wire on the left hand side (I've gone blank on why they do this? Need to go and search the forum) and am back in a months time.
Some updated pics (I have discovered it's really hard to take reasonable pictures of your own teeth! Excuse the weird lips, not sure what's going on there! I swear they don't usually look like this
):
You can see the kink/twist/bend in the one above.

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Hi Dee
Lol, yes, I'm going down kicking and screaming too! I think my family are all sick of hearing about my braces
That loose feeling is very disconcerting I agree!
Lol, it's okay. I've always dreamed that way. I have memories of some very bizarre dreams I had even as a kid of 7 and 9 that still seem scary to me even now!
Oh I loved the Stephen King book about Kennedy! One of my favourites!
Yeah, being sick on Christmas day was miserable but it's all part of life for me
I have many of them. Still no fun though!

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Hi Tobelei,
I can really see a difference in the way your teeth look. That's just great!
Are you having pain with the new wire? I've had a couple of days of some reasonably intense pain and I'm ready for it to just go away now, please and thank you.
I also liked that King book but I think my favourite book by him was "Misery". I actually stayed up ALL night reading it. Started it around 8:00 p.m. and didn't finish until almost 6:00 a.m. First and last time I ever did anything like that! But I loved that book. Funnily enough, though, I did not like the movie adaptation of it even though I love Kathy Bates. I thought she did a marvelous job.
So, I keep looking in the mirror expecting that I'm going to start seeing some changes any minute! I'm telling you if I don't see some significant changes by the time I go back at the end of February, I am going to be spitting mad! Enough is enough already. I've been in these stupid things for almost three months with ZERO changes. I'm tired of this.
Anyway, nothing much going on here with me. I went to my S&B group tonight which was great.

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Aww thanks
I can see some changes on that left side, but things keep changing. Things close, gaps open back up. I'm sure things are happening with yours! Especially if your ortho said there is! Mine told me the later you choose to do things, the longer it can take because teeth don't like to move as much when they've been there for a while. That's why they generally fix teenagers teeth. They move a lot more easily. I'm sure yours is just not noticable to you!
No pain yet. Had it changed at 9 this morning and it's currently 3:30pm. I feel some pressure but it's not horrendous. More that annoying pressure that sort of makes you want to clench your teeth together
One or two teeth feel like they might be going to hurt though. I woke up with an ulcer this morning and it's definitely rubbing a bit more with the thicker wire. I like it though, it feels far less pointy and razor sharp than my previous one did. Hopefully it won't be awful! The girl at the ortho told me that it's never as bad as when you first get them on. I hope yours passes soon
Feels like you just start being able to eat again and wham-back to pain! And it's so hot here! Far too hot for soup
I've always been a big Stephen King fan. Except for when he wrote all those dragons and castles series. I didn't like those at all. And I agree about Misery. Great book, bad movie. The only Stephen King book I've ever liked as a movie was The Green Mile. Amazing actors who all fit the part perfectly and did such a good job. Loved the book too. I also loved The Stand and It. Actually there's been very few I haven't liked (Lisey's story was one of them. Tried to read that about 10 times but could never make it past the 2nd chapter-boooorring!)
