I wasn't real sure about the steel wire either, but I looked it up on the internet and it says its a stiffer wire that they can put perminant bends in to adjust the level of the teeth, it's used to torque the teeth roots. I also think it has something to do with extruding my number 6 and 27 canines with elastics as well... :) I'm hoping that I see some movement soon.

In other news: Where they cut my wire on infront of my baby tooth the wire tip is eating a hole in my cheek so I guess I'm going to try to make it to the ortho some time soon to see if there is anything I can do with it. I have an appointment already today so that won't work and my ortho is closed fridays so I guess I'm stuck with it until next week....sigh. I Guess that's why I have wax

6 months...it really doesn't feel that long. I hope the next 18 go by just as fast

starting with new ortho

As I mentioned in my other post I have decided to change my ortho for couple of reasons.

Couple of days back I had the X-ray done and the I impressions with my braces on , today I went to my appointment ( had 2 appointments : ortho and the dentist to remove my wisdom teeth) , and had a discussion with my ortho of the plan and discussed all the details , something that didn't happen with my previous ortho .so my ortho told me from beginning that I have to had all the wisdom teeth removed , in order to straight up my second molar we need a space to move it backward and that will make enough space for having an implant with molar size .

So first he said we have to reposition 7 brackets and the molar band , and that I can remove the lower brackets and have ceramic rather than the metal one , I said ok we can do this , he said let's remove them all and give you a couple days of joy without the braces .

What an idea !! I had all brackets removed and my teeth cleaned , and wow my teeth are naked , I have to say it was painful , not removing the brackets neither the molar bands , but the glue and all the staff , my teeth are very very sensitive , I had to stop him couple of times and he thought that I'm exaggerating  I can't imagine that I will go through this again

They were not perfect but I love my teeth even before the braces , and I said to him , do I have to get them again !! I don't wand to be rebraced ( joking), he said " it's up to you, just if you want to "

So we talked about the things that I don't like , and I had to inform him that I'm very picky person I would be a difficult patient and that you have to bare with me .i wanted him to expect that I will annoy him loool

So he said rather than waiting for the dentist who will remove your wisdom teeth. Lets get a checkup for any cavities before having the braces on again ,and that was something I raised after the debonding and the pains I had during that, and gave me an appointment in 3 days to get the braces .
I went to the dentists and said that I have no cavities except my wisdom teeth and as long as it will be removed then no need to treat it , and that my front fillings needs to be changed ( which I though there were cavities) after I have my braces removed .

While I was waiting in the waiting area , staring in the mirror , thinking not to have my braces again  I really hate them . I feel stressed wearing them .

The nurse said that my ortho has enough time to put the braces again .so I'm not having my days of joy without the braces :(

Right after getting the braces , I went to the dentist to have my wisdom teeth removed , and I was scarrrrrrrred to death. easy 20 minutes and I'm done . I only felt the pressure with the lower tooth , he said the upper is always easier .
Woooow I really can't believe I had them extracted , I hope I don't get any effects after.

4 weeks for my adjustment , and 10 days for the right wisdom teeth to be extracted :-}

Ooh forgot to say , I didn't rely feel my mouth is empty without the brackets like how other people says ,as much as I felt how huge is the space in my upper palate , my upper expander was removed last time when I did the X-ray , I can tell now why I hate eating and had weight loss , it feels so different .

You sound much happier with your new ortho!! I'm glad for you. Sorry you didn't get a couple days of no braces but maybe that made it easier to get them back on. Seems like the longer they are off the harder it would be to put them back on....LOL

Yes I do feel happier thank you Elizabeth , one more advantage , he is not far from my house .

I can tell that it could have been harder if I spent more days without the braces , all my teeth are in toooo much pain ,it's like first day of braces , they hurt more than my extracted teeth .

#7 adjustment on 23 October 2012 ( first adjustment with the second ortho )

Today I got new archwires for upper and lower arches , still on the very thick wire 16 .

I also got square elastics to close the gaps and get the upper teeth touch the lower teeth from both sides right and left and get rid of the gaps, in addition another square elastics on my left side ( crossbite) to push the lower second molar inwards which is to fix the bite ,elastics are from both lingual buttons on first and Second upper molars bands to the first and second lower bands.

I should go in 4 weeks again , the plan is to fix the bite in this month and fix the midline next month , I'm sooooooo sick of the braces and I'm trying to push my ortho to remove my upper braces , I'm just waiting to see the result after the elastics and then I might decide to remove them , so if I'm happy the ortho said that he won't mind .

I will post some picture later.

Sounds like a good appointment. The elastics may speed you up and getting your bite fixed. That was the biggest issue you had to begin with right?
Its nice to have plan with an end in sight ;)

That's right Elizabith , the bad thing is that I think I overwhelm my self by being so picky , my ortho was telling me that the things that I talk about are not noticeable even by a doctor !

And I now that is true , and that's why I'm trying now not to look for the perfectness , and once I feel my bite is fixed and there is no noticeable gap , I will ask my ortho to remove my upper
braces , my ortho just keep laughing on me when I talk about the plan , as he talk about different plan and time frame and I plan for other things loool , I just want to speed up the treatment.
The elastics are so painful but I know the pain will gradually go away within weeks.

How things are going with you ??

I have an appointment today. The springs have successfully moved my upper incisors forward and off of my lowers. I have a lovely little gap between my laterals and my canines now. The good news is the small amount of jaw pain that came back after we took the turbos off has left now that my lower jaw isn't being pinned back by my uppers. (that is a major plus) I am still wearing the bite plane at night however it fits very poorly now that we have moved my uppers forward so I'm going to see if they will make me a new one today. My teeth are getting fairly straight now with the exception of just a few things that need tweeking by my bite sucks. My lower left molars are way inside of my uppers and are not meeting at all my right molars are meeting ok but they aren't perfect by any means. I still have some open areas around my canine areas that will need to be closed. So all in all sounds like I have some elastics in my future. Im about to go so I will update you when I get back :pinkbraces:

Dont worry about the molars , you will get elastics to fix this , I'm now in this stage , will let you know how it goes and how long it takes until upper and lower molars are meeting correctly.

I'm with you on the elastics, the only thing happening right now is making my bite worse actually. lol. Right now I have on one tooth on the top and one on the bottom touching. How's it going with your elastics?

Elastics was too painful during the first 4 days , now it's ok and it's getting better , I don't see a big progress yet , regretfully I'm not wearing them as required , but I will try to do so for the coming weeks , the thing is that if it didn't do what it was supposed to do , the treatment will take longer :(

I can tell how annoying it is when only two teeth are touching ,the good news is that we both have made it through 8 months , I can't believe it  can you !!

We sure have!!! I don't know if I will get used to these elastics anytime soon but its not a complicated configuration so I guess there is that. I have been wearing mine like I'm supposed to but I can't eat with them in so that isn't happening. Other than that I have them in my mouth. My jaw actually feels really strange when they aren't in there now. I can see some changes on the right side I'm not so sure about the left side though. I will post a update picture in a week or so and see what has actually changed. I still have only two teeth touching...sigh I have decided that is just my lot in life for now...LOL

#8 adjustment on 20 November 2012 ( second adjustment with the second ortho )
Today was my appointment , I had new archwire for my bottom arch , and powerchain to the upper arch , I also got a spring ( if that's what it's called) to push my right second molar backwards and up righting it , to form an enough space for my implant .

I need to have some brackets repositioned  , but as I had the thick wire and because I didn't wear my elastics as I should  , I'm still on elastics , until next month , by that time I can get a different archwire , my ortho said that with this archwire teeth can't be straightened , my right front teeth still faltered like this |/ .

I hate that my gum are more visible than before !! :| I don't know if my ortho can do something for my front teeth .

Anyway , I still hate my braces and can't wait for the day to have them off , euffff can't wait.

I will try to wear my elastics as instructed , but. Have to say that I feel that my bite has really improved comparing to last month .

#9 adjustment on 17 December 2012 ( Third adjustment with the second ortho )

So I didnt noice much progress from wearing the previous elastics  , the gaps are still there but I guess my ortho has another plan .

During this adjustment I had new archwires for upper and lower arch , still In Thick wire I think it's 18 - 20 !! I guess I heard my otho said so .

This time I didn't had ligs or powerchain but rather I had a wire all around the brackets , and got an elastics to fix the midline . It's more painful than having a powerchain .

And I still have the wire spring between my lower right second premolar and the second molar to push it backward in order to have enough space for the implant .

The elastics goes from my upper left first molar to lower left canine and another one from my upper right canine to the lower right second molar

I can't believe that it has been 9 months in braces and I still feel that's its new to me and still hate the way they looks looool , can't wait to have them off , my ortho said that I might have them off earlier than 6 months

Will wait and see .

Did anyone notice that gums are more visible after wearing elastics !!! When I used to smile per braces my gum was not showing at all , my ortho said that it might make gum more visible or sometimes could be the muscles of your lips that tried to adjust after the braces .
