Anyone had a T-Spring?

Hi everyone, I recently started the Clearstep process and am told I need a few 'gadgets' before getting my clear aligners as there's quite a lot of work to do. I got a sectional fixed brace yesterday and am told the step after this will be a t-spring to move a canine which was set back behind a baby tooth (now extracted!). I'm finding it really difficult to find any information about this on the web and wondered if anybody could give me an insight into what this will be like?

Thanks, I had seen this page before, it's about the only one! But it isn't very clear on how the spring is actually fitted in your mouth, especially as mine is just for one tooth

Clearstep is not widely used and therefore not much info. For those who prefer aligners, they usually choose Invisalign. For those who want fixed braces, there are various choices. With Clearstep, you have to wear both aligners and fixed braces or other ortho appliances … usually one after the other and not concurrently. This could mean longer treatment time.

If you need any info about Clearstep, you’re better off asking your dentist.

Thanks Robin, it's not really the whole process I mean, just that one particular device (which will be the last step before I move onto clear aligners). My dentist has described it to the extent he can, I'm really just looking for the insight of someone who has had one as I guess there's only so much you can describe without having experienced it.
I always knew I'd have various different bits and bobs before the aligners because I have several problems to sort to get my bite back in line, I guess what I'm trying to say is, I know what I'm getting into but not how it will be!

Hi well done to you for starting the process. I too was meant to start the process go my treatment plan last week and im not happy at all! My whole point was not to wear sectional braces or braces but they want me to for a whole year! I honestly don't ni what to do I'm thinking I should just ask the dentist to give me money back as my aligners and stuff haven't been manufactured and just go elsewhere for an invisalign consultation

Hey that's a shame you're not happy with how it's going. At first I didn't want any other appliances because like you the thing that got me started was the promise of clear aligners, however I've come to terms with the fact that for me it's just too big a job to do with the aligners alone so it's the best compromise to have the sectional braces and now that I'm a few days I'm finding they're really not bad, you can't see them at all when I talk and although my teeth are tender it's actuallly bearable. If you think you'd be happier with the aligners alone (and that the end result is still achievable) then you should definitely seek another consultation. The whole point of this process is to feel better about yourself so it has to be worth it for you
