Newbie saying hi.

#1 Post by RavenGirl »

It's been 15 years, but I'm 31 and just got braces on again. I have a severe overjet of around 6mm.

This has been a really interesting experience so far. I hated my original ortho, but since i'm an adult now I got to choose. I don't think my dentist is too happy about it though. My oral health went downhill after I got them off. I believe it was how the brackets and glue were removed.. That and I drank to much soda and ate too much junk food. But now my overjet has gotten in the way of my speech so I feel like I had no other choice them to have it fixed once and for all.

I got the braces on September 13th. Smooth sailing until the 26th when I had two upper teeth removed to make space to move my front teeth back. The sockets are healing fine, but I have turbos on my back upper molars. Since the extraction i've had muscle spasms in my jaw (probably in response to trama) and when I sleep my jaw has been randomly clenching and waking me up. This morning the clenching was so bad it woke me up and I had to stick my fingers in my mouth and hold my jaw open until the muscles stopped spasming. Took some ibprofen and went back to sleep. I'm mainly concerned that this will become permanent. I will be seeing my dentist on monday for a follow up so i'll ask him. Don't see my ortho until november.
