Help - can't get a hold of surgeon's office

#1 Post by trc »

I am very nauseous and am about to throw up. I have two bands holding my jaw shut. Should I cut the bands now before I throw up or see if they just break on their own. Will I do damage?

Poor thing! I would try to throw up through the bands if you have to. It's common to be sick. Hope it works out for you!

Even people who are completely banded shut can vomit right through the bands. With only two you shouldn't have a problem. Sorry you feel so nauseated.

Thanks for the reply sams and rizzie. It has been such an ordeal over the last 5 days! The surgeon called back and said just get sick threw them if you have to. Only cut them if you are choking or gagging. Luckily it settled a little bit and I was able to get some gatorade and chicken soup in. It is the first thing I have had other than water since last Tuesday. I spent the weekend in the emergency room. It was awful.

The first few days are awful. It does get much better. Take it really easy, lots of rest! Good that you're getting some soup down, an empty stomach and all the meds can also make you sick. Hang in there!

TRC- ugggg I totally feel for you and can completely relate. I was in the ER 5 days post op. I had surgery on a Monday and didn't start to feel better AT ALL until the following Sunday...almost a full week post op. That being said, once I started feeling better I got better very quickly. So HANG in there, you are almost ready to turn the corner (if you haven't already)!

There is a patch you can use behind your ear for nausea. Have you tried anything like this? Sorry can't recall name of medication, maybe someone else knows.
