Separate Forum for Implants?

#1 Post by bbsadmin »

A reader had contacted me, asking if there could be a separate forum for the topic of implants.

Do you think that "Implants" is popular enough to warrant its own forum?

Please give me your opinion!

Thanks,
Lynn

I think it could probably warrant it's own forum.

I just had an implant put in on Tuesday and was wondering which forum I should post in about my experience. It doesn't really fall into the orthognathic surgery section, and may get lost in the metal mouth forum.

For those of you who have had the first stage of implants- bone graft, and implant placed- how long did you have swelling at the site?

Also, how is the missing tooth being handled for you?

I didn't need a bone graft. I had the implant placed last Tuesday and it was a piece of cake. I had freezing only and was only slightly swollen afterwards, but only on my face - really not very noticeable at all. I had very little bleeding and very little pain - it was mostly discomfort, which ibuprofen handled well. I had to avoid brushing the surgical site for one week. Most of my stitches are gone now, but I have one stubborn one left.

Since the missing tooth is a molar, nothing has been done about the missing tooth since I had the braces put on 2.5 years ago. I have an appointment at 4 months post placement to see how well it has osseointegrated and will get a crown around that time if I have healed well.

Glad to hear it was an easy process for you-Sound almost like it was a bit easier then some of the braces steps.
