My de-brace day has been postponed

#1 Post by crazybeautiful »

...should have got my braces off yesterday, but my bite has shifted in the intermin since I last saw my ortho. I could feel it was off, so wasn't expecting that I would get the braces off. Instead, I've got extremely tight elastics on (worse than just after surgery), 8 powerchains, and had a tiny bit of slenderising done on a couple of my lower teeth (very minor)

God my teeth haven't hurt so much since I first got braced! It's actually great just before and the after surgery because you don't tend to need many adjustments, but now I'm not used to the pain after so long without it!

Oh Emma bummer on the non-debanding

I was a January buddy with you!! I still have my braces and am not even sure when they will be coming off. I do have an adjustment next monday, so hopefully get some kind of idea then.

My bottom teeth are very sensitive after my surgery. I am wearing one very small tight elastic on one side at the moment.

My bite differs a lot. My ortho says that it takes a few months to 'stabilise'. After my last adjustment the pain was like when I first got my braces on.

As long as my braces are off by December......

Thanks guys. Though in all honesty I'm not that disappointed by it; my main concern has always been the surgery, so I'm happy to keep the braces on for as long as it takes. These damn elastics are tight, though!

I've just got me new de-brace appointment through the post today too: 5th August. Presumably my ortho thinks this is enough time for the elastics to do their stuff, and for my bite to get to where it needs to be.

lfwood- hopefully you'll find out soon just how long left you're looking at. One on my bottom teeth has been quite sensitive since the surgery: I'm sure it's because the main nerve is sort of 'next to' this tooth, as it were. Right after surgery, if I stroked my chin I could feel the nerve in my tooth. I obviously don't know how accurate or likely this is, but that's what it felt like  Also strangely my numbess seems to have gotten worse since I've been wearing these tighter elastics.....again, I don't know if it's related, but this is my conclusion :)

When do you see your surgeon again? I see mine at the end of the month just so he can see how things are going, and I suppose that will probably be the last time I see him.
