feeling really fed up with my progress

#1 Post by luke88 »

i'm just feeling a bit fed up lately.... I've been wearing braces for 18 months and before that i had sarpe surgery to expand my top jaw. Well, it's still narrow and at tje moment my ortho is trying to expand it using braces. He said he won't expand it during my jaw o. At the moment i have my regular brace on and an additional thick wire over that with the aim of expanding my top jaw. Every time i go to my ortho.... It's the same story... Of your jaws too narrow, we need expand it more... Etc. There's been little progress the last 18 months. Ah. Has anyone else ever wore two wired on your top jaw? I've had mine on for 7 weeks now and nothings changed. Just feel like crying.

I can understand the frustration when things are slow. I'm behind schedule as well. According to the original time table, I should have already gotten surgery but it looks like it'll be at least another 4 months.

In your case, I thought they usually go to surgery to expand the top? Seems like wires is slow and ineffective using common sense.

My treatment feels like a joke at this point. I'm 9 months post-op and still have atleast a year in braces. Like you, it's the same ole at each appointment. I feel like he's *trying* stuff, and then forgetting what he tried and trying it again...making no progress.

I've never had two wires on at the same time.

I can totally understand. I'm 10 mth post-op now and still in braces. The total time that I am in braces is nearly 4 years! And because this August I have to go on an exchange, I really hope that my ortho could finish everything beforehand. If not, I think I don't hv any choice but to remove the braces. But now I'm kind of visiting him every 2 weeks to expedite the process.
