Post-op update; saw my ortho for first time after surgery

#1 Post by projo198 »

2-3 more appointments and then the braces are off! Much faster that I thought!

I'm about 8 weeks post op now; still hardcore numb and tight, little swelling, to be honest not really happy with my profile but oh well..

One of the guys who works for me just had jaw surgery and is only taking a week off. WOW! I took 6 weeks off and still struggled! He must not have got as much done as I did, or maybe I'm a wuss. He just called 2 days after his and can talk better than me!

why aren't you happy with your profile?

Eight weeks is nothing. It'll take another 10 months for full adaptation to take place.

probably the swelling, I had to take a side profile picture for work and it really hit home how jacked up I still look. I know it will all work out and I wouldn't change what I did, just sucks in the meantime.

From reading a lot of posts it sounds like the average time for getting rid of most of the swelling is three to four months. Up to a year. I hate pictures, every time I see someone with a camera I cringe! Before because I would always push my lower jaw forward so as to not look so weird, now I guess it will be because of the chipmunk look....
