Given a debanding date - was a class iii maloclussion

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

Given a debanding date - was a class iii maloclussion

#1 Post by na2r4 »

Hey there everyone,

I'm almost at the end of my journey, i started my journey in March 2007, had my SARPE on April 13th 2007 for a class iii maloclussion and am very pleased with the results. I get my braces off on the 11th of Sept and am sooooooooo excited!! I'm uploading my first set of pics that i posted on the SARPE topic and ones i took today.

I have a few issues with some of the gaps, but it seems i lost papillae and unsure what to do about that. Also my back teeth meet on the outside, but not on the inside, i can run my tongue along the inside with jaws clenched and feel the space. Is this normal. I would ultimately, like some bonding done and gum recontouring as well as teeth recontouring to get them to where i would LOVE them. All in all, though i'm very pleased with the result, it doesn't even look like the same mouth anymore!

This are present pics:

Oh my, your transformation is absolutely stunning!!! You must be so pleased!! :D

Congrats on how far you've come and on getting a debanding date!!

As far as your back teeth and how they come together, yes, that's normal as far as I know. My teeth are the same. I, too, have a few gaps or "black triangles" along the gumline between a few teeth. I only have one that bothers me really and I think bonding would fix that.

Good luck on your debanding and keep us updated! :)
Keep smilin'! :)

Hi Jenny101101, thank you for the compliments!! Yeah, i can't believe it either!

I sent my Orthodontist an email that same night and he had his office call me the very next day (amazing office, LOVE them and recommend them to everyone in NY) so that he could take a look at me again. He called me in today and we discussed interproximal reduction, he talked me out of it. He said my teeth were too narrow as is, so the reduction would make them look even more thinner. He fitted me with my permanent retainers (i thought he was just putting them in, in advance till next week), then asked me if i had anywhere to go and if i minded having my braces out today!!! No way!! I was sooooo excited! Got those babies out and now i can see my naked teeth, i feel like it's a different mouth! I really can't believe it. I don't even care about my "black triangles" right now!! Lol!

I do have one issue, that I need to either go see a cosmetic dentist about or my regular dentist (who so far, hasn't bothered doing anything with it). I have this tooth that i hit and damaged when i fell a long time ago (chipped some teeth too, but my Orthodontist cleaned thos up for me), it's a front tooth and it has darkened in colour since i first started out, you can really tell today. I guess they've been hidden behind those ceramic brackets for soooo long, that i barely noticed. That nerve is definitely dead and i hope the nerve can either be pulled out or they can do internal bleaching and flush it out, so it's nice and translucent again. I guess, i have to go see him and get it taken care of asap.

p.s, your teeth look gorgeous in your avatar!!! They're perfect!
