My two sons just got braces and I decided to join them!

#1 Post by uvraise »

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to this forum. My two young boys just got braces and after talking and consulting with their orthodontist, I decided to get braces my self. I just had the spacers placed on 3-19-09 and man are they KILLING me! I'm taking Ibuprofen, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Can any one tell me if this gets any better as the date for the actual braces gets closer?
Thanks so much for any response!

Don't worry, it does get better. I remember when i first had mine in i thought i wouldn't be able to eat a good meal again but you soon adjust. I ended up wearing mine for nearly a month as my appointments kept getting cancelled - in the end i hardly even knew they were there. Braces are a breeze once the spacers are out.

congratulations! It's never to late to join the club and get those teeth fixed!
I haven't really have pain issues during my own treatment except for perhaps right after extraction of premolars. However, from what I have learned from other people on the forum pain usually is an issue at the beginning of the treatment and sometimes a few days after the regular adjustments. The strange and somewhat annoying soreness (not pain) of your teeth you will get used to. Everybody does :D

Good luck.
