d'know.

This retainer was included in my initial treatment plan.

Overall, my cost was not any different from anyone elses in my area. Mine fell in the middle of other's estimated costs.

I assumed that I'd get a steel wire, I was quite shocked to look and see a gold on!

Hi Jennielee81

Great pictures. I always enjoy looking at your pictures. Your teeth are just so beautiful. There are so many amazing smiles here, but I think your's is my favorite. I love your eye teeth (I think they're called eye teeth anyway).

So the gold wire at the bottom, is that called a bonded retainer? Why do they do that on the bottom arch and not the top as well?

My ortho showed me a clear retainer, like invisaline, and said that when I was done with braces I would get that kind. I didn't think to ask if that would be for my top and bottom. I haven't really noticed people on this site have them on top and bottom, though I haven't actually searched it. I'm hoping anyway that I have a bonded retainer on the bottom and the clear one on top.

Anyway enough of my babbling. Great pic's!

THANK YOU, Mmmmuuaa, SO MUCH!!

You made my day!

I have to admit, I still love to look at my smile and I also like the canines being a bit longer. Not everyone likes that, it's a good thing I do since mine are !!

If you go to the naked tooth page, you will find plenty of info on the "clear" retainers...Essix is the most popular name used on this site. Mine was actually called "bio-form" but they also called it essex-type.

There are posters on that page with uppers in addition to lowers.

I just checked in on your progress and your teeth are BEAUTIFUL!! YOur midline is as close to perfect as any I've seen and your teeth are SO WHITE!

Again, thanks for your flattering post! And best wishes to you in your treatment's !!

My teeth look very similiar to how the original poster's teeth 'used' to look. Except my laterals aren't quite that high, definantly very similar though.. (btw her teeth look fantastic now).

Reading through this thread and I see you guys talking about having to make room for those two teeth to come down.. I'm thinking a little room is going to have to be made in my mouth as well.. I mean my two laterals aalmost fit in, but just not quite.. and they're a bit higher than the rest of my smile.

So my question is is taking the time to make room and all that more expensive, more time consuming?.. Yadda yadda? Or is it an easy fix?

Wow, Thanks Sfranklin and Ken!!

For resurrecting my story AND for reminding me of what a great decission I made in getting my teeth fixed!

My lower retainer is great! My upper is fine, I don't mind it but have to remember to pop it in occasionally during the day.

Hang in there! It's all good!!!

is that glues onto your teeth?
My cowworker also has wires inner side of teeth and they're glued on there forever.
What's your case like?

Hi,

Yes, that bonded retainer is glued onto my lower, front 6 teeth.

Not sure what you want to know about "my case" other than what's written on these 17 pages.

If I can answer something specific, let me know. Otherwise, I had crowding, rotation, overjet, and deep bite. All corrected with self-ligating braces in 20 months by an awsome orthodontist and his staff. Now in retention and continuing to visit the ortho about every 3 months as we try to get my upper incisers to settle in.

Hi Jennielee

I just got braced yesterday and am feeling sad and sorry for myself today! lol

Have been looking through this forum for inspiration and you are it!!!

My teeth look soooo much like yours (used to be) and the transformation is gorgeous.

I am looking quite hideous at the moment with the braces on the front ones that already stick out .

I hope my teeth look half as good as yours in two years time! I will keep looking at your before and after photos anytime I need to remind myself why I started this.

You must be so pleased and proud-congratulations!

WOW! Thanks for your post!!

Even a year + after debonding, I love getting complements on my results!!! I have to say that I like being an inspiration to newbies. I realized a dream when I got my braces off, and I hope I can help other adults realize their dream!!

I will NEVER grow tired of the comments!!!

Jennielee, your teeth are amazing! I was just wondering, how is flossing with the bonded retainer? How do you manage it? Do you have to use the special floss with the stiff end?

Ya, I use a piece of superfloss to floss the lowers. I have to say I don't like that part, but for the other 23 hrs and 52 seconds a day, I like the bonded lower retainer.

I do kind of wish I could just run the floss between those teeth more quickly. But it only uses a few more seconds per evening to floss them.

To be totally honest, I only floss them about 3 nights a week. My dentist hasn't noticed nor has the ortho so will continue on that time table, unless I find some little tid bit setting up camp down there. :yikes: then I floss immediately.

CHEERS!!
