I have the molar build up on both sides... it's very odd. I can't actually put my teeth together. So even if I wanted to eat something, I don't think I could chew it.

Maybe give their office a call and tell them you think your teeth are hitting the brackets. They might want to look at it so you don't pop one off like I have.

Have a good evening!

Call me Lazy !! I took the day off from work!! Yes! I didn't sleep well, woke up over and over, mouth really hurting and with the molar build ups, I can't seem to find a place where I can rest my teeth together to sleep... it's really weird....

so I called and took a day of vacation.

I called my Ortho office but they can't see me until Thursday for the bracket that popped off. She said it's no big deal at all! Whew!

Biggest problem I'm having is a terrible headache...
I just can't shake it.

Today my Mom called and said she thinks it's ALLERGIES ! I've been thinking it's my new braces and my molar build ups! What if it is my allergies? Either way my face hurts - right??

So I'll take a Benadryl and lets see if that helps! -- for sure it will help me sleep tonight!!

I want to thank everyone here for their support and for telling their stories. It's so nice to know I'm not alone. I even met someone who has molar build ups like I do! It's so odd when your teeth do not meet up. You can't eat because you can't chew food on your back teeth.

Best part is I'm not eating much and not snacking at all. These past 5 days have been the most healthy eating I've done in years! I hope to keep this up as a new healthy eating habit.

You're doing great, Pebbles!

Have a little bit of faith --- before you even realize it, your teeth will fit together, maybe not the same as before, but you will adjust to chewing and in about another 4 days to a week, it will feel very natural. What they are doing to our smiles is nothing short of amazing!

Your headaches may be from your jaw adjusting to its new position --- headaches are common in folks with TMJ or other jaw alignment issues. I would just treat them as best as I could and make sure to mention it to your ortho when you go in for that bracket repair on Thursday.

You're almost over that hump, sister --- I'm so excited for you, I can hardly wait for you to start seeing the changes!

Take care of yourself and I'm here if you need to vent! 8)

Hey Pebbles,

Just catching up. Good for you that you took the day off, if you're not going to be productive, so you should enjoy the time resting at home :D .

I hope that you're feeling better, I hear you on resting your teeth. My bite is so "jacked up" now. My teeth don't touch on the right side and now my midlines are totally off. I'm also starting to see subtle changes as well.

Good luck tomorrow on your repair. Maybe you'll have ends that need to be cut!

OK - Update --

Last night in my sleep I clashed my teeth and a 2nd bracket popped off. So I having my appointment this afternoon, my Ortho put 2 back on and told me I needed a Bite Turbo behind my front tooth to keep my top teeth from lowering down over my bottom teeth.

So with the molar build up on both sides in the back and the front Bite Turbo, I can not put any of my teeth together.

There is not one tooth surface in my mouth were I can chew food. Even Mac & Cheese, I ate 2 bites and realized I was swallowing macaroni whole.

 This is what I get for saying I need to loose 25-30 lbs
 Now I will for sure

Except tonight, when I was feeling quite low,
I made me some beautiful hot coco !!

Cadbury Drinking Chocolate powder and hot milk! YUM !
It's heaven in a mug!
You can pick it up at World Market or on the internet....

well, once again, chocolate has saved the day!

Wow, pebbles, that sounds uncomfortable. But just think how worth it it will be!!!

I have trouble with biting down too. I have a deep bite and the back molar build up doesn't seem to work at night. I'm worried I'll end up biting one off also.

Have a great day!

Mac & cheese - hot cocoa! I knew these braces could make us feel 12 years old again.

Sorry to hear about the bite turbos; any idea how long with them?

Keep us posted.

Thank you all for your wonderful posts....

Chocolate lovers rise up !

and Denise -- you are correct ! Hot coco is more than a candy ... with it's milk, it is healthy!!! It was at least 8 oz of 1% milk !

Now you guys won't believe this !!

BUT .... my Bite Turbo popped off...

  WTF ??

first 2 brackets pop off, he says because my top teeth hit them... now the Bite Turbo is gone ! !

what type of glue they use is beyond me !

Tonight after eating my pureed veggie soup, which was really quite good, I used my Sonic Care Toothbrush and I swished out my mouth and spit... the darn thing came flying out....

It's been a very hard 24 hours. I am almost giddy with joy...

I still have my molar build ups in the back. But I'm old and can be quite stubborn (born in January) ... I think if I'm VERY CAREFUL, mind how I eat, I can do my best to not break off any more brackets. and see if I can make it so I don't have to get the Bite Turbo replaced.

I sent their office an email, told them it was off and asking if it's OK for me to just be careful. That I know now how close my teeth are and I'm ready to see if I can carry on without it.

Wish me luck!!

You are right, what we loved at 12 is what we love now!

I'm smiling so big reading your question about the Bite Turbo :-#)

Answer : "My Bite Turbo lasted 27 hours !"
:D:D:D

He'd said "a few weeks" at the time... :yuck:

Denise,
You are so right... I have this weekend to eat as best I can chew....

ha,ha,ha ... I can't chew a thing......

But come Tuesday, they'll call me and give me the answer....
To come in and get another Bite Turbo bonded or give me Parole and see if I can control my bite and not knock off any more brackets....

** all said as I use my Stick Blender in my soup **
Making the best creamy soups known to man ....
:jokerlaugh: :jokerlaugh: :jokerlaugh:

OK -- make me pay later for all the humor !!!

MAC & CHEESE ROCKS!!! That's the best, it slides right down, who needs to chew!!! I loved it when preggo, b/c it stayed down and filled me up and it's great after you get braces, it slides right down and fills you up!

I cannot believe your bite turbo came off, that SUCKS!!! Is it easier to eat without the turbo eventhough you have the buildups? Did you put in a call to your ortho yet? Are they open on Monday? Maybe you'll get a reprieve from having it put back in. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I guess you should just keep up with the hot cocoa, perhaps adding a little something special to it...LOL!!

Hi ya'll --- I've been working late this week so just today got home on time.

Well, the Ortho said he wants to look at my bite before he will agree to let me go without the Bite Turbo.... Then they said they can't see me until next Wednesday -- So must not be that big a deal -- right??

So each night I make sure when I got to sleep that I have my teeth closed against the Molar Build Ups in the back of my mouth. That keeps my teeth from touching in the front. It's only when my bite slides side to side, with my bite being so narrow, that my front teeth crash --- yep, the whole reason for my getting braces to begin with.

I'm going on vacation from Feb 2 to Feb 12th and will be staying in hotels and eating out. I can just now bite down on soft foods so I know in 10 days I'll be able to eat in little bites and not draw attention to how and what I'm eating. Even if I have to get the turbo back when I return, I want to go on vacation without it.

So I am going to try very hard and not knock off any more lower brackets and PROVE to him that if he gives me parole from the Turbo that I can do it.

Today I ate clam chowder for lunch at Red Lobster and it was wonderful to bite the soft potato chunks. Tonight I made Black Eyed Peas, made sure to eat small bites, chewing in the back where my lower teeth are now meeting up with the build ups. For my snack I bought some apple sauce ... can't wait til 7pm for that!!!

Thank you all for being here and letting me keep this journal of my braces adventure!!
