I had this happen to me also, about 3 - 4 weeks post-operatively. I have pictures from 10 days post-op, where I look great, and photos from 4 weeks out when my skin is a mess. My belief is that it is your system getting rid of all the toxins from the anaesthetic and from the surgery, and from the less than ideal diet.
Drink lots of water and be patient. Like the swelling and bruising, it is temporary and will clear up within a couple of weeks.

The plasters and stuff are evil. Also they touch your skin a lot during the surgery and it can get irritated.
I had actually the quite opposite reaction to surgery - my horrible acne cleared completely few days post op, but that was thanks to the intravenous antibiotics that I was getting in horse doses.
I am sure your skin will calm soon. If not may I offer you some lovely burka's for fair price?

hey there, sorry to hear about your skin issues...how annoying for you. Hopefully it will just pass. I had a very similar operation as yours and am now on day 4 post-op. My biggest annoyances right now is that I sound so odd when I talk and I can't really smile. I think this is due to numbness in my nose, lips and chin. This is concerning to me. How were you at my stage??
I don't really get spots but I was very greasy in my chin for about 6 weeks post-op. I don't normally give a fig about my skin and usually have no skincare routine of any kind other than rinsing my face with water in the shower, but I got greasy enough to buy some cleansing wipes! I am now back to no greasy chin and no skincare routine.
I'd ramp up the water and tuck into carrots, sweet potatoes, apricots, winter squash, pumpkin, cantaloupe, mangoes, dark green leafy vegetables such as kale, collard greens, spinach, leaf lettuce and broccoli - all contain vitamin A and beta-carotene, which are supposed to help with acne.

Be careful you're not putting too many potions on your skin, if you strip it of it's natural oils you'll actually make it want to produce more oil, and this makes the acne worse. I'd use a gentle oil free cleanser twice a day, and a light mouisturiser only where the skin feels a bit tight. It's a good idea to exfoliate a couple of times a week to keep your pores clear. I've had mild acne for years, and I like Liz Earle products, or simple stuff, which you can get from boots, is also good. It must be lousy for you, getting spots now with everything else you've got going on, but it won't be for long, they will clear up before you know it. In the meantime, Rimmel's hide the blemish is a good concealor.
I've been offline for ages waiting on my ISP changing over, but I enjoyed reading your posts and I think you look fantastic. I hope you enjoyed your birthday, wish I was 18 again!

I had the same problem too and it lasted about a month, especially in the chin area. This may sound stupid but I generally just wash my face by soaping up my hands. When I had some skin problems after surgery I began using a wash cloth instead which seemed to cleanse better. It was a rather simple solution. I think the other thing that impacts the skin is that after surgery you are swollen and don't want to really wash very hard. As the swelling goes down then washing does becomes more comfortable. Good luck and hang in there
