So, its official! My braces are coming off on November 29th. I'm so excited. Here is a pic of my most recent adjustment. Believe it or not, I think I'm dreading the debracing worse then my surgery! I mean I can't wait to get them off but, I just don't want anymore pain...know what I mean? It ends up making it almost exactly 6 months post op, but I have self ligating brackets so I've only had 2 adjustments since surgery

What really intrigues is me how clean your front teeth look. Mine have brown stain right under the brackets and powerchain--I assume it's from dunking them in espresso several times a day.
Brandi, something I mean to ask you but couldn't figure out how to on your blog (I've had it with 'registering' anytime I want to do something online):
why did you need IV sedation for the implants you received a few weeks ago--or was it a month? I thought most people got local.
Congratulations. Not only have you rejuvenated your life, and possibly extended it by removing the cause of your sleep apnea, but you have upgraded your facial architecture and performed an important community service with your blog and postings in this forum.
Dec 2006--RPE followed by SARPE surgery
Jan 2007--Braces
Nov 2007 BSSO mandibular setback, genioplasty, and two implant anchors. Surgery-eve reprieve from Lefort.
May 2008--Debraced
Surgeries in Costa Rica, Orthodontics in Massachusetts.
All to fix an openbite, crossbite, underbite, and two missing bottom molars.
Well 4beauty,
I 'm a bit of nut about keeping my teeth clean. I use whitening toothpaste at least 3 times a day, and whitening rinse twice a day. I also don't drink coffee, tea, or soda. Water is pretty much my drink of choice so I suppose that makes a big difference too. But thanks for the compliment! LOL!
As for the I.V sedation that is a good question. That is just how my OS does them (I think) Maybe it had to do with the fact that I had a bone graft done in the spot the implant was placed. He didn't just have to screw the implant in, but had to go in and take out 3 screws. Two in the top and one on the side. It involved a little more cutting, and stitching so I think that is probably why.
Yes, I'm so happy with everything! I feel like a new person!
Brandyleigh - That is so great! Post op of only 6 months sounds wonderful to me. I've heard at least a year post op for a simple
BSSO. Hope that is on the outside.
Your teeth really do look terrific - be sure and post before and after - you've been through it girl. Bless your heart.
I understand the trepidation about getting them removed I feel the same. Your almost a fortnight before me in the debanding stakes so I'll be keen to read how yours goes!
All the best, just think Christmas dinner with no braces, bliss!!
Oh wow how exciting for you! soon your teeth will be naked! how weird! hope you will still stick around to contnue to give advice to those of us who arn't that far! are you getting retainers?
Oh yes! I will be in retainers for the rest of my life I think! My ortho does bonded on the bottom and Essix on top, but I think I will also have a bonded one on the top front four. I have to wear the Essix 24/7 for 6 months, then I can go down to nights only. After that I have no idea.
I will still be around, I won't be completely done until I get my implant tooth placed in Feb, and then I will probably be having a bit of bonding work done on some teeth that are wearing a bit. I like to read this forum though and see how everyone else is coming along. It can be a roller coaster ride to the end, but soooo worth it!
Wonderful news Brandy! Your teeth look great. I used your BLog as a resource during my research. I am now finally ready for surgery (in the AM actually).
I am very happy for you. Best of luck with the Debracing!
Congrats Brandy. I love the pink power chain! I'm jealous that you are only six months post-op. I'm going on one year and almost four months. My "second round" of uppers is supposed to come off this Thursday!
Thanks Sweetpea,
You know what is really weird.....I remember when I would come to this site and look at everyones teeth pics. I would be so envious thinking how amazing they looked and thinking how great it would be if mine turnd out looking that great. Now I keep looking at my pics and can't believe those are really my teeth, how can they possibly look so straight! It's crazy....I mean I took the pic and I see them everyday, but it just doesn't seem like they can be mine. It is going to be such a trip when the braces finally come off and I can really see them without all the metal! I can't wait!
Congratulations on having a debanding date, Brandy.
You've nearly joined the ranks of the surgery crowd that have had their debracing. I think that D-day is special for everyone with braces, but extra special for those of us who went the difficult way through the surgery route. Your teeth will look fantastic. Be sure to post some before and after photos when the deed is done.
