That is a very good point about using a different container! I do that type of thing at my work place as well. THAT is likely the answer!!!!

I just remembered seeing the ORMCO and trying to remember it so that I could look up the name on line and see what type of brackets they were. I then found out that they were not ORMCO.

Honestly, if it's clean....I really wouldn't care.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the EBay ads?

(AP) Authorities are clamping down on the Thai teen fashion fad of wearing fake orthodontic braces by targeting those who sell and make the pseudo-dental gear with steep fines and prison time, officials said Thursday.

Girls flashing multicolored metallic grins are regularly featured in teen magazines as braces have become more common in Thailand, transforming the dental gear detested by Western youths into a fashion statement.

Rather than getting fitted for the real, and expensive, option, teens have been buying do-it-yourself kits in stores and select red, pink, yellow, blue or multicolored rubber bands to match their outfits or moods. Clear or neutral bands are rarely seen in Thai mouths.

But, the government's Consumer Protection Board says the trend is unsafe.

"Some people put the fashion (braces) on by themselves, which is dangerous because they could come loose and slip into the throat," said Rasamee Vistaveth, secretary-general of the Consumer Protection Board, which is under the prime minister's office.

The fake braces, which are glued onto the teeth, can also cause sores on the gums and inside the mouth and some of the wires have been found to contain lead, she said.

Rasamee said the board was planning to sign an order Thursday punishing sellers, importers and producers of fake braces, which would take effect immediately.

Under the new order, selling fake braces would be punishable by six months in prison or a $1,300 fine. Importers and producers could face up to one year behind bars and a $2,600 fine.

The consumer board has been tracking the trend and authorities have made several seizures of fake braces during raids, Rasamee said, adding she believed the trend had already peaked but the crackdown was, nonetheless, continuing.

Wow, that's bizarre !

I remember several years ago before she went solo Gwen Stefani was wearing braces. I wonder if they were fashion braces instead of the real thing !

Holy Cow! I knew there were a few people that did this much like someone purposely cutting off a finger to go to the emergency room, (yes...for real...) but I had no idea it was that common!! Wow!!

There is daycare, therapy, acupuncture and Prozac for dogs now, why not braces? Although I wonder how you would get them to "sit"! long enough for someone to root around in their mouths...Oh, and how would you convince them to keep those elastics on??

My boyfriend thinks the braces have made me "so hot". His mum works for the uniform shop at my old highschool and he wants to get an old school dress from her and make me dress up in it. Is this weird? What is the appeal of a girl looking like a 16 year old?[/i]

It's my *theory* that people find sexy what is sold to them as sexy and what is associated with sex. Not sure what sick creep got the first idea of associating school girl uniforms and braces with sex, but the fact that it was taboo probably had a lot to do with its popularity. It's so much a part of the erotica now and we all seem to have been brainwashed, probably by the sheer preponderance of it. It's just like advertising, right ? See something over and over and over again, and eventually you'll believe it. I just go with the flow. To avoid any moral problems, just be an 18 year old school girl. :-)

but I am, it's just getting interesting! lol

Carl is real cute as a metal mouth, but when I say that he picks up a wicked meat hook and butcher knife and growls. Me, well intimidating rather than cute; people don't mess with the power lifter.

Carl now mumbles a lot, and I have definately developed a lithsp. This is getting funner by the week.

Haha, I also think braces are cute. I've told my boyfriend to get braces with me, but his excuse was "but when we kiss, we'll get stuck together".

Ask PARR about that; he and his partner have been trying to get locked together but no such luck yet as I understand it. And don't believe a word PARR says about Chef being touchy. To my knowledge Chef has only taken that equipment to animal carcasses of non-human types. But he does know how to use a knife. (I've seen him work.)

Is PARR intimidating? Yes. He was the kid in class who pushed the jack*ss back down in his chair and said quietly and politely, "sit down and shut up, I'm trying to learn!" and people didn't mess with him. He's got some trophies as a raw lifter.

If the braces didn't distort my lips, I would actually think they are kind of cute. But I really hate what they do to my lips !

Can't wait to see them on my husband. :-) We'll have to find some temporary adhesive that doesn't wreck his teeth. (I guess I can find just the right stuff if I visit a braces fetish web site, but I think I can't stomach looking at one right now !)
