a guessed time? i don't know .. someone said
a year..another said two..someone said four.
ahh.it's really scaring me. :[[ i'm going to the
dentist in like a month and i'm pretty sure he's
gonna refer me to a orthadontist. so yeaaahh..
i was just wondering. any help would be nice.(:

From your pictures it does look as though you have an underbite. If you search the braces stories forum you will come across quite a few stories of people with underbites that have uploaded progress pictures etc. You will have to talk to your ortho to find out what he wants to do to treat the underbite, but as i say if you look at some pictures of the progress people have made with braces, with an underbite, its pretty good stuff. Again the treatment times varies and everyones teeth moves at a unique pace, so you could find your in braces just a year or 2 or 3. Again, your ortho will explain everything.

About the lines in your teeth not matching up, i think you're are refering to your midline. This will be treated along with the underbite, so once your upper arch has a slight overlap with your bottom arch the ortho will correct the midline. Your teeth are a really good shape and colour so once you get the braces you will have a really nice smile.

Hi miserybusiness!

Yes it looks like a case of underbite.. i also have an underbite, and i'm 22 years old, and i'm on brace treatment for about 7 months.. and on the end i will have surgery to push back my lower jaw (dunno if they are going to move my upper..). In your case, because of your lower age i really don't know if you are going to need surgery.. maybe with just head gear you can correct your underbite because your jaws are still growing.. but i'm not an expert ;).

I highly advice you to correct your underbite, not only for cosmetic reasons on some cases but seriously because health reasons.

A few months wont make a big difference to an underbite which is 14 years old if you see what i mean. Although the sooner the better whilst your still in your teens and your teeth are easier to move.

underbite wasn't really..noticeable
until i was like..13 which is now. :/
i'm a bit worried. what do they usually
do about crossbites? :/ will i have braces
even longer now that i have both of these?
so basically..i have a underbite,crossbite..and
my midline is off..? ahh. i'm sorry if i'm confusing
all of you..or anything. it's just my parents never
want to talk about any of this with me. :[

thank you sooo much.
ahh. everytime i bring
anything up with my parents.
they push it away. they don't
really want me to get braces
cus its alot of money. the reason
i'm going around august is because
that's when the insurance kicks in.
nobody has been able to answer any
of my questions. thank youu alot.. i feel
really relieved and i will be sure to ask alot
of questions. haha. :] i hope i don't get them
for too long. because i know some people that
get made fun of for their braces. :/ ehh. i just want
them for three years the most..haha. any less i would
be lucky. or so i've been told by my parent's friends? ha.
they always scare me. saying i'll be needing it for like
A LONGGG TIME. :/ i guess i'm just really worried about
the teasing. anyways, thank you soo much :D

noticed that their teeth
aren't too great..i think
they're sorta embarrassed
to get braces..you know? i
did noticed my teacher had
braces and she was really confident
and nobody really said anything. ha.
i hope i can do that. and thank you
for that. i feel alot better. i'm really
glad i found this site. hahah. :]

oh.i think these questions will
be my last for awhile. heh.sorry
for being a bother. i was wondering..
what would happen if i never treated
any of this? like would anything bad
happen? my boyfriend says i don't need
them and basically all my friends and my
parents wouldn't mind not getting them. :/

okay..you know those teeth in the VERY back
of your mouth..like the last ones..okay..i'm missing
one? is that normal? like it never grew..the one on my
left grew out a awhile ago..but the one on my right..doesn't
appear to be .. like coming down anytime soon..is that okay?

is it true i might need jaw surgery to correct my underbite?

am i too old to get an expander? i will be fourteen
very soon..and if i were to get one..is there any way
i can have like braces to cover up ..the gap? haha.

heh. i'm very sorry for asking soo many questions.
it's just im REALLY nervous..and yeah. hehe. :P

hey there! i'm 15 and i've got a crossbite at the back so my molars aren't biting together properly so they basically put me in an upper expander (which i'm in right now) and i need to get the key turned every night until my upper palate has gotten wide enough..
so after my expansion is done i'll get fitted in braces and since i didn't need any teeth taken out they won't have to spend time on closing any gaps and stuff :D

good luck with everything
you're lucky you're doing this earlier cause i was supposed to get my teeth fixed ages ago but after they said that i needed four teeth out my mom put it aside until i brought the subject back up again and so she said it was worth a try to see another orthodontist for their opinion 8)
