Just started...How long should this last??

#1 Post by seatowngr8 »

I just started my treatment 3 days ago. So far, so good, except for a bit of pain (which I expected) that goes away. NO ONE can tell that I have them in, except I've been talking softer and with a lisp.

My ortho told me the treatment would take 12 months when I first ordered the aligners. My alligners say I am on 1 of 11 and my uppers start at 4.

Does this mean I have 11 treatments (22 weeks)? What is going to happen after the 22 weeks? Hopefully, I'll get these buttons off!!

HELP! I'm REALLY curious!!!

I get the feeling that yes, your treatment will last 22 weeks but afterwards, you'll go into a ''maintenance'' treatment with retainers for the remainder of the year...

Mine are two week aligners, so if yours are like mine, I think you are right!!!

My lisp isn't getting better, but I don't really care, which surprises me.

My lisp is still there. I don't think anyone notices expect for me though!!

I have yet to have anyone notice my alligners.

1 week down....21 more to go!

my lisp went away, except when I talk really quickly ie when im excited.. or when im drunk (clearly drinking does not help my speech)

but i had a speech problem when I was younger, so I am pretty good about catching myself.

I find that the first day of a new aligner I especially have to slow down my words or else things come out all jumbled. But you'll get used to the speech thing. I figure a few months or a year speaking oddly makes up for a lifetime of hidden smiles..
