what should i do?

#1 Post by kayla4644 »

ok, i had my 10th adjustment today, and i was in powerchains and i was thinking that i would get another because i have an unsightly gap in the front of my teeth (on the right side) but she said that they dont wanna continue them and that they would just put on normal ligs and hope they dont move back. now i got braces to close my gaps and im not getting what i want and its making me feel really sad about it and i definitely dont want the braces to come off without that gap being closed. now, im just wondering if i should tell them how i feel and ask them to close up the gap? or just suck it up and just go with the flow? i feel as if they arent doing it right lol

help!!
Always listen to your heart, cause even though it's on your left, it's always right.

Hi Kayla :) 10th adjustment-wow!! I think that you should voice ANY concerns that you have with your ortho, no matter how silly they seem. The fact that they're concerning you is something! I would hope that the ortho's are planning to close all gaps before debanding, but I guess you never know. Good luck!

Hi Kayla4644, I am not a doctor, but have had the power chains to close some gaps (don't remember the adjustment number, but I am in month 22). My thought from what you discribed, is that the gap that was just closed has not had enough time to "seat" the teeth in a stable position. Attaching elastics to these teeth to help close other gaps could very well open the original gap. Purhaps in an appointment or two, your orthodontist will address your newest gaps. As stated by Johhys_Angel, talk to your orthodontist...

Guaranteed, we don't always know what is going on in our orthodontist's minds  - I have bite issues that I am having to "go with the flow", if you will.... - but they are getting better.

Good luck to you.
Had Damon 3 / Smart Clips for almost 2 years
Now in Hawley upper 10 hours/day, permanent lower retainers
