Yesterday 10/17-I went in for an appt to have an appliance installed on the roof of my mouth that is attached to the top bands & that went well & then the Dr asked if he could go ahead & brace the bottom. I agreed to it but I was surprised because he originally told me it would be a longer wait for them. Anyways, by the end of the night, I DID ache(worse than with the upper teeth) & my tongue was raw from rubbing against this foreign thing onthe roof of my mouth.I started up on the salt water rinses again(THEY HELP!) & took some tylenol also. Well, when I woke up this morning, My tongue was better & I felt fine but by the end of my workday(where I had to do quite a bit of talking) I had developed a nice large canker on my left cheek & a raw spot on my right so I am good friends with wax again too! I know that in just a few days, I will be fine & the inner cheeks will toughen up but until then I will keep rinsing & using wax at night & at work. I will post pix soon of the lowers & the appliance too ok? Thanks to everyone for their kindness & encouragement! I am excited-even thru the pain & can't wait to see the changes that lie ahead for me-I will have a BEAUTIFUL smile soon! YAY!

update:
I finally found some time to update you with my pictures. I got a PM asking what is the appliance for? Well, as far as I can understand, the Dr told me it is so the upper bite doesn't really shift too much cause he is happy with it bitewise but the bottom has alot more moving to do so the appliance only allows so much movement, I guess. Hope that helps...

My uppers have been on a little more than mo now & I am adjusted to living with braces-I love them, I see great changes all the time & can't wait to see continued progress! I have my first adjustment on 11-14 so we'll see what happens next!
So, can you see any difference at all?

Yesterday was my 1st adjustment & it went well. I didn't get a new wire yet but I got a new color of ligs-They are rose colored. I like them alot! next mo, I will be brave & go multi-colored!

Thanks so much! Yes, I am excited & it is unbelievably amazing how the teeth seem to be moving so fast! I love it! I realize it may not always be this way but for right now, I am enjoying the movements I DO see! Thanks for your great input!

Today is my 8 mo mark & I LOVE my new smile more & more all the time! I have an appt next week & my Ortho has mentioned elastics. I was supposed to get them at an earlier date but you know how things can change, so that didn't happen yet. Thats ok cause it all happens when it should right? I will post an update picture in a little bit & and show everyone my progress. Thanks for letting me update!

at my last adjustment, I was given a powerchain on my lowers & that was a whole new experience! YIKES! It HURT! I am ok with it now but WOW! The 1st few days were worse than any ligs I've ever felt. Anyways, I was also told that I will need 2 extractions SOOOOOOOO this Thursday, 8/3, I am having the 2 teeth removed from my uppers. Wish me luck & I will post more photos again soon

OUCH! I had my 2 teeth extracted & after all the numbness has worn away, 1 of the sides is hurting so I just took meds. Wish me luck on the healing-my next appt is Aug 21st with my regular Ortho.
I did it! I am glad it's over!

your dh sounds like an inspiration! I am doing better today & I have been doing the salt water rinses-I only had to take 1 motrin today & that is it-I am pretty proud of myself. I am now looking forward to the future & these teeth moving even more now that there is extra space for them! Its exciting! I'll keep everyone updated

today is my 1 yr anniversary -I am loving my new smile and I have 1 yr to go-I still have not had elastics like I thought I might but thats ok-My gap is closing slowly & he said I will be getting elastics in my next 2 visits or so. I look fwd to my last yr ahead & I appreciate all the support & encouragement!
