During my mid-teens, my lower right 1st molar was extracted as it was preventing both my 2nd and 3rd molars from emerging. They were hoping the extraction would encourage the other 2 teeth to erupt given time. I had a better chance of winning lotto. The x-ray taken in April 2005 showed that the lower right 2nd molar is now lying almost parallel with my jawbone.
Gah! Well, it was worth a try, wasn't it! Darn that 2nd molar for laying down on the job.
I can imagine the fears that erupted when the black holes were discovered, and the "C" word was mentioned. I'm very glad to hear that your OS feels this is not even a possibility. Whew!
I think you have really scrutinized well the advantages of waiting until after braces for the surgery, and agree with your logic. It is good to know that shift/movement after surgery will be unlikely, and that you are not in any discomfort (at least not from the offending teeth!).
Ugh, I had a tonsillectomy about 20 years ago (at age 21) and it was no picnic. I'm sorry you had to go through that so recently (and hemorrhaged, no less)!
Great photos! You must be so happy to look at those and see how far you have come! Look at how much your overbite has been corrected, and look at that top arch. I can't believe how much those upper and lower teeth have moved! Ah, and now I finally get to see the gaps about which you have spoken.
I asked if it came in darker colours so I wouldn’t have to worry about staining. He said yes, but they were not as effective in closing the gaps and bringing in the bite as quickly.
Wow, I have not heard that. I will definitely be asking about this in three weeks when I go in. I would love a lighter color powerchain like yours, if only I could feel confident that a whitening toothpaste will keep it looking good. I'll be very interested to hear how yours does in the coming weeks.
I take all of my pics with the zoom all the way out, and the camera held as far away as my arm can reach, then when I crop everything else but my teeth out, I get a nice close up view.
