Difficulty removing Invisalign aligner or Essix Retainer?

#1 Post by bbsadmin »

I was wondering if the Invisalign patients ever have difficulty removing their aligners? Or if Essix Retainer wears have trouble removing their retainers?

I came across a really neat tool for easy aligner removal, and was wondering if folks could really use something like that. If so, I will carry it at DentaKit. I'm always looking for handy new products that help people.
I'm the owner/admin of this site. Had ceramic uppers, metal lowers ~3 years in my early 40's. Now in Hawley retainers at night!

At first I had some troubles getting the aligners out. I actually broke my first aligner on the bottom because I was tugging on it from the back instead of the front. Depending on the price, some people might find it worth it to have a gadget that helped them remove their aligners. But usually you get used to how to take them out after a few weeks that it may not be necessary.

I have a hard time removing the aligners. I'm new at this though. I actually have used a crochet hook a few times! It worked and no damage! I'm trying to grow my finger nails a bit-I tear them off (nervous habit) so, it really hurts my finger tips when prying and I think a tool in the kit would be great. Anyway-that's my two cents.
