Can anything be done to open up a bite? Feel hopeless

#1 Post by 24braceface »

I've been waiting for my bite to open up. And it has opened up somewhat, but still not enough to where it's comfortable. Still can't kiss because my bottom teeth are too high. I have them shaved down 1 mm, and my ortho is working on intruding but I'm starting to lose hope because I'm not feeling the effects of the intrusion. I have tads on. Are there any other methods to open up a bite? Please help.

I've heard of reverse curve wires for intrusion or extrusion (depending on which way the wire is placed).

Hang in there!

Many different ways of opening up the bite. It can be done with braces and with Invisalign as well. Keep in mind that this type of movement requires the teeth to be pushed along the long axis into the bone, and may take longer to express that movement than others such as rotation or extrusion. Hang in there!
