It seems like quite a risk. I have heard that Invisalign sometimes rejects the moulds made at ortho offices because they were not done properly and the patient has to go back and do it again. If this is the case, I would worry about the quality and accuracy of a self made impression. If you had Invisalign, you can call your provider and they may be able to order you Vivera retainers right from your clincheck. It might cost a bit more but you'd get three or four of them so they would last a long time and you have back ups in case of hungry dogs:)
