In-Ovation Versus Damon Brackets

#1 Post by augustday »

Hi all,
Today I was checking out my orthodontist's website and I noticed that he doesn't endorse In-Ovation braces anymore but rather Damon was the one he was advertising besides traditional metal and Invisialign braces. Currently, I have In-ovation clear on top and In-ovation metal on the bottom. I know there are threads on these two braces, but other than the size (as I understand Damon brackets are smaller compared to In-Ovation), are there other differences? Do Damon braces work faster than In-Ovation ? Are they better than In-ovation? Should I ask my ortho to change to damon? When people change from one kind of braces (for example, metal to invisalign), do they have to pay extra?

Thanks!

as far as i know they are both self-ligating so very similar anyway just different brands. I wouldnt go changing from what you have now as that must be what the ortho is comfortable using. And as i have heard here many times its the wire that moves the teeth not the brackets :) I have damon clear and damon metal but that is because its the choice my ortho made. I definately imagine if you wanted to change from metal to invisalign it would cost HEAPS, as they would have to create the trays for you etc which all costs, so there is no way i am switching although i do wish it was easier to brush :( but braces will give me a better result in the longrun. hope that helps
