My 12 year old daughter has had an expander for approx. 3 weeks. The other day we visited the orthodonic and they told us to stop turning the key and sealed it with a glue. The next day my daughter had hour-glass shaped cuts on her tongue from the expeander. It is painful, what can we do to provide her relief? Also, what can we do to prevent the cuts from happening? Wax is not helping, it falls right off.
The cuts are making it even more difficult for her to eat, as if eating wasn't difficult enough because of the metal box at the roof of her mouth. Help! Any suggestions or proven remedies for this?
Thank you!
