Teeth have shifted since debanding PICS - advice needed!

I had my braces removed in Late July. My canines were VERY high up to begin with and were pulled down during my treatment. I am very good about wearing retainers, I haven't missed one night, and remove them only to eat and brush during the day. My ortho does not like using bonded retainers, so I have a set of Hawley and Essix.

My problem is - my teeth have shifted! I know there is some settling that is expected to occur, however I'm scared that its going to keep "settling" until they are out of line. My canines are creeping back up, especially one of them, and the retainers don't hold it down!!

I brought this up to my ortho a couple months back when I noticed it, he said there it not much he can do because retainers mainly prevent lateral movement and don't do much for vertical. When I asked about a bonded retainer up top, he said bonded retainers up top don't work because of the bite... what does this mean?? Am I supposed to just sit back and keep my fingers crossed that my teeth stop moving up??

I know its not terrible looking, but after having braces as an adult, its frustrating to have this happen. The ortho said once the teeth settle (about a year), I should see a cosmetic dentist and get veneers for the canines to make them appear longer. Really? After 6 grand, I have to spend 2 more?

Any advice? See pics - notice the canines and also a minor space between the two lower teeth.

I remember me answering a similar type of question. I looked it up, and yes,
it was you having this issue in September :

Now, your right canine is indeed quite a bit higher again. It is possible to get it
down again, like I said in the old reply. But not with a retainer I think. And if it
were me having such beautiful teeth, certainly NOT with veneers. Bad bad idea.
Nah, just get it down once again and maybe with some overcorrection. That
means pulling it down a bit too much. Quite easy I think, quite fast too. Then
you'll have it again in the right spot. Hmmmmm, veneers, this sounds in your
case .... eh .... ridiculous. I guess this means ordering your ortho to go to bed
tonight without supper and without TV, as a punishment !

Why not just get some bonding done if you are not satisfied?
Many people get that done after braces, its not an issue.

She got rebraces for 6 months to pull them back down.

She's noticed some movement back upwards in the recent past but isn't too worried about it getting worse.

thanks for everyone's replies! i have an appointment next week with my ortho to see what he thinks i should do. going back in braces would be really dissapointing, not to mention, expensive! its frustrating that after doing everything right (elastics, adjustments, retainers) this sort of relapse can happen.... and I did ask my ortho for a bonded retainer before my braces came off, he said it wasn't necessary - I guess it was!!
