Anyways, the past couple of days I've noticed that my top front teeth are hitting my bottom teeth when I bite down, and it feels like my bottom teeth are resting against the back of my top teeth. Before, it felt like scissors (which is what I had read they should feel like). Now, my top teeth have to go over and kind of slide down my bottom teeth. Also, I've noticed when I wake up it seems like I am pusing my bottom teeth against my top teeth in my sleep.
Is this all normal?
I have been having the same problem since 2 months ago, when my ortho started to use power chain to close my upper premolar extraction gaps, my upper fronts went back a lot, and my bottom front are hitting the back of my upper front. Plus, due to the shape of my left central incisor, it has a very thick left ridge (about 1mm) on the back, which is always hitting my lower fronts. My ortho insisted on not shaving down the ridge, but pushing my upper fronts and lower fronts into my gum to open the bite. Thought it worked a bit, but I still can bite into the upper fronts 50% of the time, plus, I really don't want my upper front incisors to look shorter. lower fronts biting into the upper fronts is also a really weird feeling since I've always had an overjet before and never know if the touching is ok or not. And my upper fronts have been pretty sore from the biting pressure.
But my ortho also said starting from my next adjustment, he will do IPR to my lowers to bring the lower fronts back a bit (though only 1-2mm top) Anyway, from all the consults I went to, if the orthos are going to adjust your teeth to the classic "kanine relation", and if the lower fronts are hitting the back of the upper fronts, it'll be an issue of the tooth size and the only thing they can do is IPR. Anyway, bring this issue up to your ortho and ask for a solution.
