At my last adjustment with the ortho, I was told we're on to fixing the midline, and that's the last thing, so we'll see how that goes. I'm wearing the right class II elastic full time, and the left just at night. It's not moving quickly, but I'm sure after 29 years it's a bit stubborn. My next adjustment is Oct 1, so we'll see where it's at then.
I had my consult appointment with the oral surgeon last week, and they really set my mind at ease about everything. They do a conscious IV sedation, and I'll have three wisdom teeth removed. My top two are fully erupted, so they should be easy. I only have one on the bottom and it is horizontally impacted. For my implant surgery, they will have to take a bit of the bone from my wisdom teeth area to bump up where the lateral that is congenitally missing. Then the screw will be installed, and I'm done. I have to wait 6 months for the bone to heal, but the surgeon said I can have the initial surgery immediately after the braces come off.
After the 6 mos he'll check to see that everything is good, and I'll get my abutment and crown from my dentist. He will also be doing a porcelain veneer for my peg lateral to match.
My implant surgery was quoted at about $4700 including my wisdom teeth removal, and I guess I thought that sounded kind of high. I had heard implants are usually between $1500-3000, does anyone have any input on that? I've been so happy with my treatment, that I'm willing to pay a premium, and my insurance does cover implants, so I'm expecting that will cover some of it.
It's starting to feel like the end of the road, and I'm really looking forward to posting more about the implant, veneer, and finished product for everyone.
